Betty Nunley - 1921-2013

CATLETTSBURG — Betty Marie Burgess Nunley, 91, of Catlettsburg, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, February 2, 2013, at her home.

Mrs. Nunley was born Sept. 2, 1921, in Ashland, a daughter of the late Mary McKnight Burgess.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Willard E. Nunley; sons Harry Nunley and Donald Nunley; a grandson, Greg Nunley; a brother, Jack Burgess; and a son-in-law, Bob Cornwell.

Betty was a homemaker who dedicated her life to taking care of her family. She was a member of the PTA and Little League. She enjoyed painting, crocheting, gardening, Kentucky basketball, history and her beloved Cincinnati Reds. She was the oldest living member of Faith Independent Baptist Church.

Surviving are her sons, Jack Nunley and his wife, Patty, of Catlettsburg, Joe Ed Nunley and his wife, Kathy, of Catlettsburg and Willard Nunley Jr. and his wife, Sharon, of Ashland; a daughter, Ellen Cornwell of Catlettsburg; grandchildren Katie Fellure (Steve), Bob Cornwell Jr. (Angie), Jackie Pack (Tom), Tiffany Thompson (Jeremy), Brett Nunley (Rhonda), B.J. Nunley, Jim Nunley, Sherry Lewis (Chris), Diane Alcorn (Joe) and Tyler Nunley (Jessica); 19 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Virginia Rankin Burgess of Houston, Texas.

Funeral services for Mrs. Nunley will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, at Kilgore & Collier Funeral Home in Catlettsburg by Pastor Tom Keelin. Final rest will be in Catlettsburg Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be her grandsons and great-grandsons.

Visiting hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the Faith Independent Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 362, Catlettsburg, KY 41129.
