Ethel Colleen Wolfe 1925-2013

GREENUP — Ethel Colleen Wolfe, 87, of Greenup, went to be with the Lord, Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, in Kingsbrook Lifecare Center in Ashland.

Ethel was born March 24, 1925, on Leatherwood Road in Brushart, a daughter of the late Marce Jefferson and Grace Green Smith.

She was a lifelong member of Brushart Christian Freewill Baptist Church of Christ. She was retired from Applegates Foodland in Greenup, where she worked in the deli department. She was a Kentucky colonel and a Kentucky admiral, she loved to sew and quilt. She made a quilt for each of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Ethel will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Hazel Musser and Elizabeth “Lizzie” Baker.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Joseph Derring “JD” Wolfe; one son, Joe Wolfe and his wife, Emmy, of Catlettsburg; three brothers, M.J. Smith of Lloyd, Carl Smith of Load and Jack Smith of Greenup; two sisters, Minnie Wolfe of Greenup and Louise Bradley of York; two grandchildren, Danielle St. Clair of Barboursville, W.Va., and Samantha Prince of Ashland; four great-grandchildren, Olivia and Sophia St. Clair and Hunter Prince and Laken Prince.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013, at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup by Bro. Bill Oakes and Earl Marshall. Pallbearers will be Hunter Prince, Marc Prince, Bill Bradley, Jerry Wolfe, Braden Wolfe, Aaron Wolfe, Ronnie Smith and Donnie Smith. Burial will follow in the Brick Union Cemetery in Lloyd.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to services on Thursday at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank special caregivers Mag Kilburn, Rhonda Fannin, Eldean Madden and Wanda Adkins. They would also like to thank everyone at Kingsbrook Lifecare Center for sharing their love and care for Ethel.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Cannonsburg Trinity United Methodist Church Food Pantry, 11620 Midland Trail, Ashland, KY 41102.
