Virginia Jackson Dixon, 86, of Ashland, passed away Saturday, Feb.16, 2013, in King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.
Virginia was born Dec. 22, 1926, in Harold, a daughter of the late Arthur L. and Byrde Layne Jackson. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Mansfield Dixon Sr.; brothers, Paul Jackson and William J. Jackson; and her sister, Elizabeth Ruth Pinson.
Mrs. Dixon was of the Protestant faith, an avid sports fan, especially a fan of the University of Kentucky Wildcats, and most important to her, a homemaker and grandmother.
Survivors include sons, Dr. Mansfield Dixon Jr. and wife Janice of Pineville, Dr. Timothy K. Dixon and wife Lisa of Ashland; brother, Arthur L. Jackson Jr. of Holyoke, Mass.; sister, Helen J. Lazear of Lexington; grandchildren, Elizabeth Dixon, Angela Dixon, Dr. Justin Kevin Dixon and wife Dr. Grace Dixon, Allison Ryan Dixon, and J.D.; and a great-grandson, Hayden Mansfield Dixon; to her many nephews and nieces, Aunt Nini will be deeply missed.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, at the Ashland Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel by Dr. Phil Hill. Burial will follow the service.
