Paul Ranzie “PR” Coffey 1937-2012

RACELAND — Paul Ranzie “PR” Coffey, 75, of Raceland, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, at home with his family by his side.

Paul was born March 8, 1937, in Naples, Ky., to the late Langley and Rosa Sarks Coffey.

Paul was the owner of Paul Coffey Construction beginning in 1966, at the young age of 25. He started from scratch and worked his way up building and molding bridges, roads, football fields, ect. He was well known for the 1,000-acre industrial park in Cannonsburg called the Paul Coffey Industrial Park. Paul enjoyed meeting people in his lifetime, and was lucky enough to meet people such as Bob Hope, Andy Williams, Dolly Parton, Crystal Gayle and the president of Mexico. He was a helpful man and would do anything for anybody if he had the opportunity to. Paul also enjoyed laughing and telling jokes, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Besides his parents, Mr. Coffey was preceded in death by a sister, Lena Hawkins; a brother, Wendell Coffey; and two twin great-grandsons, Landon Dean Ferguson and Derrik Lee Ferguson.

A caring and devoted family is left behind to mourn his passing, including his loving and devoted wife of 54 years, Virginia Coffey; a son, Kevin (Lynn) Coffey of Russell; a daughter, Rebecca (Jeff) Ferguson of Catlettsburg; two brothers, Ronald Coffee of Ashland and Curtis Coffey of Flatwoods; five sisters, Christine Hamilton of Wurtland, Marie Potter of Greenup, Lula Danner of Flatwoods, Beulah Faye Hensley of Argillite and Grace Woods of Greenup; five grandchildren, Anthony (Laura) Ferguson, Adam (Laura) Ferguson, Jonathan (Lindsay) Ferguson, Kristen Coffey and Amy Coffey; two great-grandchildren, Katelyn Ferguson and Mya Ferguson; and a host of loving nieces, nephews and friends who will all greatly miss him.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods, with words of comfort delivered by Bishop James R. Daniels and the Rev. Jeff Ferguson. Burial will be in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today, Dec. 3, 2012, at the funeral home.
