GREENUP —
Thelma Jo Scaggs, 69, of Little Sandy Road in Greenup, went to be with the Lord on Monday, Sept. 3, 2012, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.
Mrs. Scaggs was born July 25, 1943, in Portsmouth, Ohio, a daughter of Evon Stemmer Stone of Greenup and the late Irvin Stone. She attended Little Sandy Baptist Church in Greenup.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Kelly Alton Scaggs; four sons, Kriss (Sarah) Scaggs, Kevin (Cathy) Scaggs, Kermit Scaggs and Arnold (Hollie) Scaggs, all of Greenup; two daughters, Kelly (Robert) Boyles of Maloneton and Karen (William) Dickens of Greenup; two brothers, Bill (Nancy) Stone of Greenup and William Adams of Largo, Fla.; four sisters, Lucreta Shumaker of Burlington, Ohio, Dorothy “Pib” Claxon of Greenup, Irvonna “Bugg” Jiminez of Margate, Fla., and Carol Ann Walters of Greenup; 11 grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and two special friends, Jamie Barnette of Pedro, Ohio, and Angie Speta of Greenup.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012, at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup by Dr. Tim Jayne and Brother Wayne Stephenson. Burial will be in Scaggs Family Cemetery in Greenup.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today and an hour before services Wednesday at the funeral home.
