Nemo Roark 1916-2012

CARTER — After 96 years, six months and 26 days, Nemo Blevins Roark fell asleep in the arms of Jesus on Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 4 in Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born May 8, 1916, at Grahn, a daughter of the late Crockett and Melissa Wooten Blevins.

She was of the United Baptist faith. She was a 50-plus-year member of the Carter County Homemakers and a member of the Gregoryville Quilting Club. She was a very gifted and talented craft maker and enjoyed making and giving them to her family and friends.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Mose Earl Roark; a son, Gerald Roark; an infant daughter, Carol Lynn Roark; a great-grandson, Christopher Adkins; four sisters, Lottie Blevins, Lucy Lowe, Mattie Knipp and Mae Sturgill; and two brothers, Earl Blevins and Frank Blevins.  

Nemo is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Joy and Wayne Adkins; a daughter-in-law, Judy Roark; three grandsons and their wives, Tim and Kim Adkins, Mike and Karen Adkins and Kenny and Robin Adkins; a granddaughter, Jayla Suttles; five great-granddaughters; a great-grandson; and four great-great grandchildren. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews and friends who will sadly miss her.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9 at Sparks Funeral Home in Grayson by Brother Charles Logan Knipp and Brother James E. Adkins Jr. Burial will be in Bentley Cemetery.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8 and after noon Sunday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 3229 Burnet Ave., Cincinnati, OH 45229-3095 or Community Hospice 1480 Carter Ave., Ashland, KY 41101.

Tim Adkins, Mike Adkins, Kenny Adkins, John Michael Mayo, Larry Taylor, Bryan Ross, Scott Ross and Josh Harris will serve as pallbearers.
