Mark Edward Ray - 1959-2013

LEXINGTON — Mark Edward Ray, 53, of Lexington, passed away Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013, in the University of Kentucky Medical Center.

Mark was born June 8, 1959, in Ashland.

He was preceded in death by his devoted father, Dr. Hugh Lee Ray, and his first wife, Melissa Renee Ray.

Mark lived life to the fullest during his time of health. He had a great love for music, motorcycles, the ocean, his dog, Sebastian, and spending time with his many friends and family.

He is survived by his always caring mother, Polly Ray of Ashland, and a sister and brother-in-law, Jane and Dr. Michael Ehrie of Ashland. Mark had two daughters who will miss him greatly, Stephanie Lauren Ray of Irvine, Calif., and Elizabeth Lance Ray of Knoxville, Tenn.; a beautiful baby granddaughter he adored, Adelie Grace Murray of Knoxville; a niece, Meg Ehrie of Alexandria, Va.; and a nephew, Michael Ehrie III of New York City.

Mark will also be missed by his former wife and supporter, Pamela Ray-Householder of Knoxville; and his childhood and devoted friend through sickness and health, Ben Van Meter.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013, at First Baptist Church, 1701 Winchester Ave., Ashland, by the Rev. Harold Moore.

Care Cremation & Funeral Service in Lexington is in charge of arrangements.
