Freda Keeney 1936–2013

GREENUP — Freda Louise Keeney, 77, of Greenup, went to be with the lord on Friday March 15, 2013, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.

She was born Feb. 1, 1936, in Russell, a daughter to the late Thomas B. and Barbara Ellen Stewart Ratcliff.

She was a member of the Greenup First Baptist Church where she was an assistant Sunday school teacher and sang in the choir.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Stuart Keeney, along with two brothers and two sisters.

She is survived by two sons, William T. Keeney of Ashland and Lawrence C. Keeney of Greenup; three daughters, Barbara Oney of Ashland, Virginia Beth Hall and her husband, John, of Lexington and Ellen Douglas of Versailles; a brother, Glen Ratcliff of Florida; a sister, Shirley Waskey of Flatwoods; five grandchildren, Jason Oney, Jerri Oney (her caregiver), Nathan Douglas, Molly Douglas and Billy Keeney; three great-grandchildren, Cassie Oney, Victoria Duffy and Quinn Oney; along with her best friend and sister-in-law, Carol Abdon of Greenup.

The funeral services will be at 7 p.m. Monday, March 18, 2013, at Wright’s Funeral Home in Greenup by Dr. Tom Melvin. Committal graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Plum Grove Cemetery in Greenup.

Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Monday, March 18, 2013, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Greenup First Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 414, Greenup KY 41144 or Community Hospice, 1480 Carter Ave., Ashland KY 41101.
