Charlotte Jenkins-Orr 1936-2012

ASHLAND — Charlotte Jenkins-Orr, 76, of Ashland, formerly of Lexington, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012, in Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital.

Charlotte was born on June 16, 1936, in Lynch, to the late Edgar B. and Elizabeth Cain-Jenkins. She was of the Methodist faith and a member of the Lexington Lions Club and was a Kentucky colonel.

Besides her mother and father, Charlotte was preceded in death by one brother, Ray Jenkins; one sister-in-law, Patricia Robbins; one brother-in-law, Wallace Vowell and one nephew, Rodney Vowell.

Mrs. Orr leaves behind a loving and devoted family including three sons and their spouses, Jimmie G. and Lynn Orr Jr. of Lexington, Michael David Orr of Lexington, and John William Powell and Cathy Orr of Prospect; one daughter and her spouse, Jennifer J. Hoback and Igor Mankivskyi of Ashland; one brother, Tom and Sharon Jenkins of Knoxville, Tenn.; two sisters, Willa Mae Jenkins and Sue Jenkins of Lynch; two sisters-in-law, Lily Jenkins of Cumberland, and Amelia Vowell of Pennington Gap, Va.; 11 grandchildren, Molly, Christopher, Michael, Alex, Nikki, Andrew, Aaron, Sarah and William Austin, and Lexi and Austin Riley; one great-granddaughter, Blayre and many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends all of whom will miss her dearly.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 7, 2012, at Carman Funeral Home, 444 Bellefonte Road, Russell. Words of comfort will be delivered by Sandy Adams to those in attendance. There will be a graveside service and burial to follow after 2 p.m. Friday at Lexington Cemetery in Lexington.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Sept. 6, 2012, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made in memory of Charlotte to the Lexington Humane Society, 1600 Old Frankfort Pike, Lexington, KY 40504.
