ASHLAND —
Fred Justice, 95, of Westwood, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013.
Fred was born June 29, 1917, in Carter County, a son of the late David and Lucretia Wilson Justice.
He proudly served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He later retired from Allied Chemical as a head heater. He was a member of Hampton Masonic Lodge 235, F&AM, of Catlettsburg, Indra Consistory-Valley of Covington Scottish Rite Bodies, Apperson Chapter 81, Everette Council 65 and Ashland Commandery 28. He was a member for more than 50 years and former trustee of El Hasa Shrine, El Hasa Legion of Honor and El Hasa Patrol. He was a lifetime member of the El Hasa Motor Corps, the El Hasa Director’s Staff and Royal Order of Jesters Big Sandy Court 172. He was a member and former trustee of Elks Lodge BPOE 942 of Catlettsburg, the Q-Club Order of Quetzalcoatl El Mexa and Kenova American Legion Post 93. He was a Kentucky colonel.
He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Jane Shelton Justice.
Survivors include his wife of 16 years, Rita Lawless Justice of Westwood; two stepsons, Scott Lawless of Ironton, Ohio, and Eddie Lawless of Huntington, W.Va.; a stepdaughter, Debbie Martin of Ironton; three grandchildren, Kristen Lawless Howerton, Eric Shafer and Aleigha Lawless; a great-grandchild, Sydney Shafer; and numerous extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, at Caniff Funeral Home in Westwood. Burial will be in East Carter County Memory Gardens in Grayson, with military rites by Kenova American Legion Post 93.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today, Jan. 17, 2013, and an hour before services Friday at the funeral home.
Scottish Rite services by officers and members of the Ashland-Russell Scottish Rite Club will be at 6:45 p.m. today at the funeral home. Masonic services by officers and brothers of Hampton Masonic Lodge 235, F&AM, will be at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
