ASHLAND —
Donald R. “Baldy” Reynolds, 81, of Westwood, husband of Virginia “Ginny” Smith Reynolds, died Thursday morning, Jan. 17, 2013, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland following an extended illness.
Baldy was born April 14, 1931, in Ashland, a son of the late George Washington and Dulcie Roark Reynolds.
He was a member of Oak Street Chapel Free Will Baptist Church and was a retired electrician in the maintenance department of AK Steel. Baldy was a Korean War Navy veteran and a lifetime member of the VFW and American Legion Post 76. He was a charter member of the Westwood Volunteer Fire Department, Fred Gross Lodge 953, F&AM, York Rite Bodies, Knights Templar and the El Hasa Shrine. Baldy was a proud 1992 delegate to the Democratic National Convention, served as the former Democratic chairman of eastern Kentucky, was instrumental in helping organize the Boyd County War Memorial at Armco Park and served as a special deputy sheriff under Sheriff Troy Dixon.
He was also preceded in death by a son, Donald R. Reynolds Jr.; a sister, Opal Simpson; and five brothers, Jack, Bill, Rex, Paul and Bob Reynolds.
He is also survived by three sons, Paul Reynolds of Ashland, Bobby H. Senters of Ashland and Jim Senters of Dayton, Ohio; two daughters, Lynn Justice of Cannonsburg and Lori Rambo of Worthington; a sister, Ruth O'Brien of Michigan; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, at Preston Family Funeral Home in Ashland by Pastor Johnsey Collins. Burial will be in Dixon Cemetery in Westwood.
Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Sunday, with Masonic services at 7 p.m. by officers and brothers of Fred Gross Lodge 953.
