FAIRBORN, OHIO —
Retired U.S. Marine Corps Master Sgt. Noah E. Young, 88, of Fairborn, Ohio, passed away Friday, Sept. 7, 2012.
He was born May 31, 1924, in Van Lear, the son of the late Jessie B. and Ada M. (Conley) Young.
Noah served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II, Korea and Vietnam, retiring after 23 years of service at the rank of master sergeant. He followed his military career with employment in civil service at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, retiring in 1989.
His Masonic affiliations include Norview Lodge 113, F&AM, of Norfolk, Va., Scottish Rite Valley of New Bern, N.C., and Sudan Shrine Temple of New Bern. Noah was a Kentucky colonel and was a member of American Legion Dignam-Whitmore Post 526 and VFW Post 6861.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Cecelia, in 1994; four brothers; and a sister.
He is survived by a son, Roger Clayton Young and Judy Barnes of Stella, N.C.; a daughter, Vickie Lynn Wells and David Semler of Dayton, Ohio; two grandchildren, Angela Fraley and Stephen A. Young; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Paul N. Young of Kettering, Ohio, and Richard D. Young of Long Beach, Calif.; and a special friend, Ella Meade.
There will be a Masonic service at 12:45 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14, 2012, by Greenup Masonic Lodge 89, F&AM, with funeral services to immediately follow at Steen Funeral Home-13th Street Chapel in Ashland. Burial with full military honors will be in Kirby Flats Cemetery.
