Troy Parsons Jr. - 1949-2013

ASHLAND — Troy E. Parsons Jr., 63, of Ashland, began his heavenly journey on March 6, 2013.

He was born April 11, 1949, in Ashland, to the late Rev. Troy and Verna Dixon Parsons.

He was the loving husband of Barbara Ray Parsons and a devoted father, brother and grandfather. He actively participated in worship at Wildwood Baptist Church for many years. He was loved by many in this area for his ready willingness to share God’s promises. He was always set to sing about what was most important to him. He was an example to all who knew him as a godly man, full of generosity and love, and willing to give of himself as needed. We celebrate his life, though he will be sincerely missed by family and friends.

He was also preceded in death by one sister, Pam Simpson.

He leaves behind a rich legacy for his family — his five children, Debbie (Matt) Allen of Russell, Trey (Lora) Parsons of Ashland, Scott Baker of Ashland, Gary (Teresa) Baker of Grayson and Melissa Parsons of Ashland; three sisters, Bonnie (Kelley) Asbury of Catlettsburg, Deanna (Charles) Conley of Dalzell, S.C., and Cathy (John) Abney of Ashland; and five grandchildren, Braden Weinfurtner, McKenna Allen, Reanna Allen, Olivia Parsons and Ethan Parsons.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday, March 11, 2013, by Pastors Jim Nichols, Tom Leach and Wayne Kuhner at Caniff Funeral Home in Westwood, with a committal service at Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday, March 10, 2013, at the funeral home. Please come celebrate his life.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Wildwood Baptist Church.

Condolences may be sent to canifffuneralhome.com.
