CATLETTSBURG —
Della Mae Hammonds Ross, 77, of Paddle Creek, in Catlettsburg, went to be with her Lord Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012, at Community Hospice Care Center surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Ross was born Dec. 23, 1934, in Branchland, W.Va., a daughter of the late Smith Hammonds and Ethel Yates Hammonds.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Ross Jr. in 1987.
Della was a homemaker. She enjoyed quilting and working in her yard and flowers. She faithfully attended Church of the Nazarene in Catlettsburg.
Surviving are her children; sons, Johnny Ray Ross (Leanna) of Rush, and Sendal Lee Ross (Carol) of Catlettsburg; daughter, Linda L. Murray (Rodney) of Catlettsburg; children by marriage, Johnny Ross of Crown City, Francis Wheeler, Janet Payne (Carl) and Cathy Payne (Mike), all of South Point. 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; Brothers, Clyde Hammonds (Becky) of Ashland, and Charles Hammonds (Marilyn) of Lincoln, Neb.; sisters, Bonnie Parker (Roger) of Marion and Ella Hammonds (G Bug) of Ashland.
Della was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brother Clarence Junior Hammonds; sister Bessie Pearl Land; and sons by marriage, Everett Ross and Emmerson Ross.
Funeral service for Mrs. Ross will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 22, 2012, at the Kilgore & Collier Funeral Home on Panola Street in Catlettsburg. Pastor Frank Hulett will bring a message of comfort. Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Burial Park.
Friends may Call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
