Anna Louise Womack Yates 1953-2012

CARTER — Anna Louise Womack Yates, 59, of Foreston, Minn., formerly of Grayson, passed away peacefully at home on Oct. 16, 2012, after a long battle with cancer.

Ann was born Jan. 15, 1953, in Grayson, to the late Ellis “Eck” Womack and the late Hazel Buck Womack, the youngest of five children. She graduated from Prichard High School in 1971 and continued her education at Morehead State University and Clark County vocational school, where she studied business.

Ann was previously married to retired Command Sgt. Maj. Ronnie Yates of Sandy Hook for more than 20 years and moved with the military. While living in Germany, Ann worked in the medical field she loved and was able to travel to many countries with her family, expanding her well-known skills as a great cook and baker.

After moving to Minnesota in the late 1990s, she continued her work in the medical field until finding the beauty of life on a farm with her fiancé, William “Bill” Evans of Foreston. She was well-known for her kind heart, generous spirit and love of all animals. She especially loved to spoil her cats, and always fed animals that may have wandered onto the farm. On occasion she had been found feeding a mother mouse in the barn.

Ann is survived by her loving family and loyal friends, who include Bill Evans of Foreston; daughter Tara Yates (Glen) Gosse of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; two brothers, George Womack and Carl (Betty) Womack, both of Grayson; a sister-in-law, Alicia Womack of Mattoon, Ill.; a maternal aunt, Blanche Conley of Grayson; four granddaughters, Kelly Gosse, Ashlee Gosse, Emily Gosse and Kristena Gosse, all of Murfreesboro; a great-granddaughter, Savannah Maskovyak of Murfreesboro; two nephews, retired Lt. Col. Carl (Misty) Womack of Salado, Texas, and Chandler Womack of Mattoon; and four nieces, Vicki Womack (Mark) Westergard of St. Petersburg, Fla., Cynthia Womack (Neil) Brown of Fillmore, Ill., Dr. Lenore Womack (Henry) Wright of Waco, Texas, and Alison Womack of Mattoon. She also leaves seven great-nieces and great-nephews, many other cousins, extended family members, neighbors and friends who will truly miss her.

Ann was also preceded in death by her eldest brother, Charles E. “Chuck” Womack, and her sister, Sue Womack.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 25 at Malone Funeral Home in Grayson by Ann’s cousin, Don Sams. Burial will be in Hillcrest Burial Park.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today, Oct. 24 at the funeral home.

Condolences may be sent to malonefuneralhome.com.

If desired, donations may be sent to a breast cancer research foundation or hospice.
