Charles Moore 1933–2012

CATLETTSBURG — Charles Elden Moore, 79, of Shopes Creek, Catlettsburg, passed away Thursday, Aug. 16, 2012 in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.

Mr. Moore was born March 15, 1933, on Durbin Road, Catlettsburg, a son of the late Elden Moore and the late Mattie George Moore Gibson.

Charles served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired from Novamont in the maintenance department, worked as a mechanic for Johnsons Dairy, and was a member of Grand Lodge of Kentucky, F& AM. Charles was an avid gardener, a ham radio operator, and loved skeet shooting and restoring antique tractors.

Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Texie Sue Wallin Moore; his brothers, Curtis Moore (Rosie) of Louisa, Danny Gibson (Linda) of Catlettsburg, Dennis Gibson (Wanda) of Catlettsburg, Glen Gibson (Nancy) of Louisa, Fred Gibson of Columbus, Ohio, and Bill Gibson of Kenova, W.Va.; his sisters, Helen Ferrell of Rush, Charlotte Cartmel of Catlettsburg, Pauletta McNabb (John) of Louisa, Greta Grayson (Jack) of Catlettsburg, Rosia Bell Atkins (Ed) of West Hamlin, W.Va., and Sharon Tooley of Gatewood, Mo.; and all his nieces and nephews.

Charlie will be greatly missed by all those who loved him, especially his best friend Toby.

Graveside service for Mr. Moore will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 19, 2012 at Hap’s Memorial Gardens on Gibson Lane, Left Fork of Durbin Road, Catlettsburg. Pastor Mac Ferrel will officiate.

Visiting hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Kilgore & Collier Funeral Home on Panola Street in Catlettsburg.
