Johnny Fankell, 17, of Grayson, passed away on Feb. 23, 2013, due to an automobile accident.
He was born on Jan.31, 1996, in Ashland.
He is survived by his parents, Thomas and Rachel Burton Fankell of Grayson.
He was a junior at East Carter High School. A member of the East Carter Varsity Baseball, Junior Varsity Basketball and a member of the Future Farmers of America. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was active in the youth group at the Maranatha Bible Church in Webbville, where he was a member.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, John Burton.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother, Tommy Ray Fankell of Grayson; maternal grandmother, Flora Burton of Hitchins; paternal grandparents, Elwood and Patricia Fankell of Grayson; six aunts, Cindy (Chester) Gowen of Waverly, Ohio, Pollyanna (Ronnie) Rogers, Faith (Brian) McDavid, all of Grayson, Johnda (Frank) Hager of Ashland, Cathy Fankell of Lexington and Glenna (J. Paul) Wyley; he is also survived by his girlfriend, Morgan Rivers and her parents, Bobby and Cindy Rivers of Olive Hill; and a host of family and friends.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013, at Harold Holbrook Athletic Complex, East Carter High School in Grayson, with Bradley Cotton and Jesse Fyffe, ministers. Burial will follow in the John and Flora Burton Cemetery in Hitchins.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today, Feb. 26, 2013, at the high school.
