Jack L. Rodway (1938-2010)
Jack L. Rodway, 71, of Ashland, Ky., died Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010, in Bryant’s Health Care Center.
He was born Nov. 27, 1938, in Youngstown, Ohio, to the late Arthur C. and Lavina May Heckman Rodway.
He was retired from Quigley Corp. (a division of Pfizer) and former owner of Lee-Lynn Industries in Ashland. He was an inventor (his product, Gunnite Gun, is used by AK Steel). He was a graduate of North High School in Youngstown and attended Kent State University. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Youngstown and of the Lutheran faith.
Surviving are his wife, Barbara Rodway; three daughters, Brenda Lee Rodway Irwin of Canfield, Ohio, Debra L. Rodway of Austintown, Ohio, and Lauren K. Rodway of Louisville, Ky.
Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2010, at Miller Funeral Home in Ashland by the Rev. Butch Kiger. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.

James E. “Jim” Brewer (1952-2010)
James E. “Jim” Brewer, 57, of Ashland, died Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010, in King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland following an apparent stroke.
He was born July 23, 1952, in Ashlandm to Roy E. Brewer of Ashland and the late Mary Helen McClain Brewer. He was a retired blast furnace operator at AK Steel and a member of Operating Engineers Local 181 of Ashland.
Surviving, in addition to his father, are two sons, Dustin Brewer and wife Shannon of Phoenix, Ariz., and James Justin “Judd” Brewer of Ashland; a daughter, Lisa Cooper and husband Paul of South Shore, Ky.; four sisters, Kaye Donta and husband Bob of Ashland, Sheree Doolen and husband Carl of Russell, Sharon Roberts and husband Mike of Ashland and Tuxie Griffin and husband Tony of Ashland; and three granddaughters, Katelynn Brewer, Ryley Brewer and Keisha Damron.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2010, at Steen Funeral Home-13th Street Chapel in Ashland by the Rev. Jim Nichols. Burial will take be at a later date in Rose Hill Burial Park.
Friends may call after 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Charles W. Payne (1935-2010)
Charles W. Payne, 74, of Ashland, died Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010, in Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital.
He was born April 18, 1935, in Russell. He was a trainmaster for 42 years with the CSX Railroad and was of the Baptist faith. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the Brotherhood of Railway Clerks.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Malvry Vanderpool Payne.
Surviving are his wife, Loretta Brown Payne of Ashland; sons Charles E. (Kay) Payne of Lexington, Ky., Timothy (Hylane) Payne of St. Petersburg, Fla.; David K. Payne of Burnaugh, Ky., and Charles K. (Diana) Smith of Westwood, Ky.; daughters Lynn Ann (Greg) Burnett of Grayson and Dr. Penny (David) Crain of Elizabethtown, Ky.; a brother, Aurdrean (Darlene) Payne of West Virginia; 11 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and a little hairy friend, Sammy.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 12 at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods by Chris Hammons. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland.

Michael “Mike” Addington (1959-2010)
Michael “Mike” Addington, 50, of Rush, Ky., passed away Friday, Jan. 8, 2010, at his residence.
He was born April 17, 1959, to Larry Addington of Catlettsburg, Ky., and the late Patricia Louise Lyons Addington. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Robyn Addington.
Mike was the owner of No. 60 truck in the NASCAR Truck Series and was a member of the Ashland Elks. Most importantly, he was a loving father, grandfather, brother, son and friend. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his father, he is survived by a daughter, Amy Addington of Ashland; a grandson, Christian Addington; a sister, Megan Smith of Catlettsburg; and three nieces, Katy, Hannah and Kelsey.
A memorial gathering will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2010, at Lewis & Ferguson Funeral Home in Sandy Hook, Ky.

Elwood Webb (1923-2010)
Elwood Webb, 86, of Circleville, Ohio, formerly of Grayson, Ky., died surrounded by loved ones early Saturday morning, Jan. 9, 2010, at his residence.
He was born Oct. 17, 1923, in Webbville, Ky., to the late Charles H. and Flora Belle Roberts Webb. He was retired from U.S. Steel and the U.S. Navy, where he attained the rank of seaman first class.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Elwood Webb Jr.; brothers Clifford, Grover, Denver and Woodrow Webb; and sisters Effie Thompson, Wilma Weaver and Ruby Webb.
He was survived by a daughter, Flora “Cookie” Webb; brothers Chester Webb and Charles Jr. (Iva) Webb; many grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and special caregivers Aaron and Julie Marshall (a great niece) and their daughters, Mayci and Karly; and a special buddy, Halle.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010, at Malone Funeral Home in Grayson by the Rev. Roger K. Tatman. Burial will be in Webb Family Cemetery.

James William “Bill” Miller (1941-2010)
James William “Bill” Miller, 68, of Grayson, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010.
He was born March 12, 1941, in Carter County, Ky., to the late George and Kate Greer Miller. He attended Huff Run Community Church and was retired from Hitchins General Refractories.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Prichard, in 1998.
Surviving are his wife of 25 years, Mary Helen Boggs Miller; a stepson, Lynuel Conn of Elliott County, Ky.; a stepdaughter, Jonya Shoffner of Tennessee; two sisters, Madge Rogers and Wanda Sullivan, both of Columbus, Ohio; and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Malone Funeral Home in Grayson by Randy Binion, minister. Burial will be in Miller Family Cemetery on Fields Branch.
