WESTWOOD —
GayNell Barber, 70, of Westwood, wife of John T. Barber, died Friday evening in King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, of an extended illness.
She was born Sept. 6, 1941, in Hemp Hill, W.Va., the daughter of Gaylord and Bessie Day Sammons. She was a member of Westwood Christian Church and a retired cook from Fairview Schools.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Debra Skidmore of Piketon, Ohio; two granddaughters, Teresa Pettit and Sarah Skidmore, both of Piketon, Ohio; and a great-grandson, Tyler Creech of Piketon, Ohio.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2012, at Preston Family Funeral Home in Ashland by the Rev. Dean Jackson. Burial will be in the Dixon Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
