MOREHEAD —
Martha Rebecca Osborne Knipp, 64, of Pleasure Lane, Morehead, Ky., went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday afternoon June 15, 2010, in St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead.
Marti was born July 26,1945, in Boyd County, Ky., a daughter of the late Baxter and Dorothy Triplett Osborne.
Marti was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saints. She was a retired legal secretary from the Campell-Woods- Bagley law firm, a Kentucky colonel and an artist, writer, quilter and black belt karate instructor. She was a member of the Rowan County and Boyd County Quilt Trail and the Haldeman-Hayes Crossing Volunteer Fire Department Auxilliary and an avid Bible reader. Marti was a foster mother to numerous children in Boyd County, Ky.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Cleveland John Osborne.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Danny Knipp; three sons and daughters in-law, Brent Michael Knipp and Kristina of Richmond, Ky., Joseph Daniel Lawrence Knipp and friend Lucia of Lexington, Ky., and David Baxter Osborne Knipp and Maranda of Ashland, Ky.; special granddaughter Katie Leigh Knipp and special grandson Logan Michael Knipp, both of Richmond; three brothers, Phillip “Steve” Osborne of Nicholasville, Ky., Baxter Osborne Jr. of Enon, Ohio, and Robert Joseph Osborne of Lexington; and a sister, Sharon Melick of Beaver, Ohio. She also leaves several other family members and friends who will sadly mourn her passing.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today, June 18, 2010, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, Ky., by Elder Terry Bryant. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Clifty, Ky., with a committal service conducted at the grave site by Bishop Daniel Osborne.
Friends may call at the funeral home.
Members of the Haldeman-Hayes Crossing Volunteer Fire Department will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to one of her favorite charities, FMCNA (Dialysis Center) of Morehead.
