FRANKLIN FURNACE —
Jessie Ellen Howard, 77, of Franklin Furnace, Ohio, formerly of Big White Oak Road, York, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2012, in King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Howard was born Jan. 17, 1935, in Lawrence County, a daughter of the late Denny John and Cora Blevins Young.
She was a member of New Hampshire Enterprise Baptist Church.
She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Emmit J. Young, Henry Young, Charles Young and Hager Young; three sisters, Mildred Hunt, Maggie Imogene Womack and Dora Belle Burton; a granddaughter, Billie Angela Hope Howard; and a grandson, John Henry Garner.
She is survived by three sons, George William “Bill” (Debbie) Howard of Phenix City, Ala., Kenneth Dean “Kenny” Howard of Franklin Furnace and Dwayne Allen “Allen” Howard of Auburn Hills, Mich.; two daughters, Barbara and David Harr and Linda and Robert Montgomery, all of Wheelersburg, Ohio; three sisters, Doshie Wilson of Franklin Furnace and Maxine (Edward) Wireman and Hazel Packer, all of Ashland; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; several nieces and nephews; and many other family members and friends.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup by Elder James Collier, Elder Ezra Burton and Elder Gary Burton. Burial will be in Jones Cemetery at York.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today, Sept. 28, 2012, and an hour before services Saturday at the funeral home.
