ASHLAND —
Harry Milton “Huck” VanHorn Sr., 74, of Ashland, passed away in King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland on Friday, Sept. 28, 2012. He was born on June 17, 1938, to the late Wallace and Jannie Boggs VanHorn. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Elmer VanHorn and Wallace VanHorn Jr.; and a sister, Anna Kiser.
He was a member of Wildwood First Church of God and was retired from the Ashland Fire Department with 22 years of service. He also served in the Kentucky National Guard for nine years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Sandra Stallard VanHorn; sons, Harry VanHorn Jr. and James VanHorn (Judith), both of Ashland; a daughter, Cassie Gibbs (Kelly Jr.), of Ashland; and a granddaughter, Kelsie RoseAnn Gibbs, of Ashland, who was the light of his life. He is also survived by brothers, Edward VanHorn of Anderson, Ind., Richard VanHorn (Karen) of Louisa, Ralph VanHorn (Phyllis) of Fargo, N.D.; and a sister, Mary Morgan (Lawrence) of West Chester, Ohio.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012, at Wildwood First Church of God with the Rev. Steve Harris officiating.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland.
