Judy A. Vanhoose Farrell - 1928-2012

ASHLAND — On Friday, Sept. 28, 2012, heaven’s gates opened to receive a very special angel, our precious mother, grandmother and best friend.

Judy A. Farrell passed away peacefully with her family by her side at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.

“Gran” was 84 years old, born July 23, 1928, a daughter of the late Clyde E. and Pearl Jackson Vanhoose of Argillite.

She was a homemaker and the epitome of motherhood, always putting the needs and wants of those she loved ahead of her own. Her sacrifices were many, but the rewards she is reaping in the company of our Heavenly Father are unending. Those of us left behind will miss her terribly, but we rejoice in the knowledge that someday she will greet us with open arms and her beautiful wings spread wide. Until that day comes, we can take comfort in knowing she is watching over us from above, just as we did in her time here on Earth. She was a Christian of strong faith and a member of Meade Station Church of God.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Harry E. Farrell; a brother, William J. Vanhoose; and two sisters, Phyllis Robinson and Betty Clay.

Survivors include three sons, James L. (Vicki) Shope, Rick (Sheila) Farrell and David Farrell; a daughter, Leigh Ann (Rob) Jenkins; and a brother, Russell Vanhoose.

Additional survivors include 11 grandchildren, Cara (John) Turner, Joshua J. Shope, Robert and Jeremy (Jennifer) Farrell, David, Jessica and Zachary Farrell, Shelley Barnett, Shannon Cornette and Sabrina and Pamela Bolt; and seven great-grandchildren, Savannah McCoy, Ava and Cohan Barnett, Madison and McKenzie Farrell, Bobbi Jo Bolt and Rheanna Bateman.

A celebration of “Gran’s” life will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, at Meade Station Church of God, 1315 Marsh Hill Drive, Ashland, KY 41102. Words of inspiration and prayer will be offered by Pastor Robert Jordan.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to the church in “Gran’s” name.

Lazear Funeral Home in Ashland is in charge of arrangements.
