Delmar H. Conn (1922-2010)
Delmar H. Conn, 87, of Ashland, Ky., died Sunday, Jan. 24, 2010, at his residence. He was born May 29, 1922, in Tamcliff, W.Va., to the late Millard and Martha Fultz Conn. His wife of 67 years, Betty Conn, survives.
He was raised in Ashland and graduated from Ashland High School in 1941. He served in the U.S. Navy from Oct. 1942 through Nov. 1945. He retired from Armco Steel after 30 years of service. He was a member of the Ashland First Church of God for over 50 years and was a Scout Leader for Troop 126 for many years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Ronald (Phyliss) Conn of Jacksonville, Fla. and Michael (Jan) Conn of Ashland; a daughter, Adele (Watson) Mosley of Greenup Co., Ky.; five grandchildren, David (Treveline) Conn of Sadieville, Ky., James (Maribel) Conn of Kissimmee, Fla., Sean (Pasha) Peffer of Marysville, Fla., Lacey Conn of Lexington, Ky. and Stephanie (Bob) Davis of Xenia, Ohio; four great-granddaughters, Treya, Reese, Reagen and Madeleine; and two great-grandsons, Dorian and Braedn.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2010, at Ashland First Church of God by Rev. David Lynch and Rev. Mabel Johnson. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Miller Funeral Home in Ashland and from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
Gartrell Chandler (1918-2010)
Harry Gartrell Chandler, 91, of Grayson, formerly of Ashland, passed away Thursday, Jan. 21, 2010. He was born Dec. 9, 1918, in Ashland to the late Glen Chandler and Nellie Horn Chandler Brewer. His wife of 68 years, Kathleen Chandler, survives.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and retired as a self-employed builder/construction worker. He was a charter member of Rose Hill Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Chandler; and two half sisters, Mildred Salyers and Margaret Porter.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three half brothers, Fred Brewer of Ashland, Robert Brewer of Marion, Ohio and Charles Brewer of Catlettsburg, Ky.; two half sisters, Helen Yoder of Ashland and Eileen Comer of Coal Grove, Ohio; and several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today, Jan. 25, 2010, at Rose Hill Baptist Church by Rev. Charles Stewart and Rev. Ronnie Mayes. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland. Military rites will be conducted by Kenova American Legion Post 93.

Laura Alice Wheeler (1921-2010)
Laura Alice Wheeler, 89, of Ashland, died Sunday, Jan. 24, 2010, in King’s Daughters Medical Center. She was born Jan. 14, 1921, in Johnson County, Ky. to the late Lafayette and Sabra Alice Daniels Chandler. She was a retired employee of The Henry Clay Hotel.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earshel Wheeler; a son, James Earshel Wheeler; and 14 brothers and sisters.
She is survived by a daughter, Emma Jean Adkins and husband Roger Dale of Flatwoods, Ky.; a son, David Wheeler of Ashland; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2010, at Miller Funeral Home in Ashland by Rev. Mike Rice. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Raymond Curtis Keith Jones (2002-2010)
Raymond Curtis Keith Jones, 7, of Ashland, Ky. died Friday, Jan. 22, 2010, in Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, W.Va. He was born May 27, 2002, in Morganton, N.C. He was a 2nd Grade A/B Honor Student at Hatcher Elementary School in Ashland.
He is survived by his parents, mother and stepfather, Donna Marie Krantz Forquer and Michael McCoy of Ashland and father and stepmother, Keith “Red” Jones and Glenna Conley of Elizabeth, W.Va.; brothers, Thomas J. Forquer and Daniel “Jerrill” Forquer, both of Ashland, Jessie J. Forquer of Stoney Point, N.C.; stepbrother, Joshuwa Dean McCoy of Ashland; and stepsister, Shelly Louise McCoy of Ashland.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2010, at Steen Funeral Home Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland by Rev. Bill McCoy and Rev. Sean Mayenschein. Burial will be in Ashland Cemetery.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home chapel.
Raymond was an organ donor. His donations have helped save seven lives.
