Charles Penn “Charlie” Mohr 1931-2013

ASHLAND — Charles Penn “Charlie” Mohr, 82, of Ashland, died Friday morning, Feb. 1, 2013, in Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, following a short illness.  

Charlie was born on Jan. 22, 1931, in Lexington, a son of the late Charles LeRoy Penn and Lois Griggs Mohr Forte.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Josie Long Mohr, in 1987.

He graduated from Ceredo-Kenova High School, and attended Marshall University. He spent three years in the U.S. Marine Corps, where he was stationed at the  U.S. Naval Ammunition Depot in Crane, Ind. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Ashland and retired after many years as a self-employed food broker.   

Survivors include his children, Lee Anne (Paul) Walmsley, Lynn (Todd) Nibert and Chuck (Peggy) Mohr, all of Lexington; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland with his son-in-law, Pastor Todd Nibert of Todd’s Road Grace Church in Lexington, officiating.  

Burial will follow in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods, where military honors will be provided by the American Legion Post 93, Kenova.

Friends may call from noon to 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
