PHOENIX, AZ —
Roberta Ann McDyer Henneman, 90, of Phoenix, Ariz., formerly of Ashland, passed away Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, in Phoenix. She was accompanied in her last days by members of her family, friends and her dedicated caregivers.
She was the daughter of the late John Cecil McDyer and Mary Roberta Ryan. She graduated with a nursing degree from St. Mary’s Medical Center School of Nursing in Huntington, W.Va., in 1944. She was engaged in private duty nursing in Kentucky, Ohio and Arizona prior to entry into military service. She served as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps during World War II (1945 to 1946) and at Hammond General U.S. Army Hospital in Modesto, Calif.
Her past Roman Catholic parish memberships in Phoenix include St. Jerome, St. Gregory and St. Mary’s, and Holy Family Church in Ashland.
She was also preceded in death by her brother, Thomas McDyer; a granddaughter, Michele Renee; and her beloved husband of 60 years, Joseph Lawrence Henneman, who worked for the State of Arizona Department of Economic Security’s Unemployment Insurance Division for 27 years, and 10 years for the U.S. Department of Labor Unemployment Insurance as an associate regional administrator in Washington, D.C., until their retirement in San Francisco, Calif., in 1986.
Survivors include her children Mary, Kathryn, Donna, Mark, Patricia and Matt; two granddaughters, Christina (Mike) and April (Jeff); and a son-in-law, Ray (Patricia).
Private visitation and burial were at Chapel of the Chimes Mortuary in Glendale, Ariz., and Holy Cross Cemetery in Avondale, Ariz.
A memorial Mass will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 2, 2013, at the Beatitudes Campus Life Center, 1610 W. Glendale Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85021.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the Beatitudes Campus Foundation, 1610 W. Glendale Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85021 or Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix, AZ 85014.
