GARRISON —
Garnet Howard, 81, of Leatherwood Road in Garrison, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013, at her home with her family by her side.
Mrs. Howard was born Sept. 13, 1931, in Lewis County, a daughter of the late Steve and Virgie Royster Horsley.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Elva E. Howard, in 1994; four brothers, Leonard Horsley, Wayne Horsley, Estill Horsley and Vernon Horsley; and two sisters, Bessie McGlone and Roberta Horsley.
She is survived by a sister, Iona Smith and husband M.J. of Lloyd; a brother, Monroe Horsley and wife Marjorie of Garrison; and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews, who thought of her as a mom, grandmother, sister or friend.
Garnet was always the first person to reach out a helping hand to her family and the last person standing by her family or a friend’s side. The love she had for her husband and her family was great, but no greater than the love her family still has and will always have for her. She will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup by Brother Lonzo Horsley.
Pallbearers will be Mike Bush, Matthew Grayson, Cavel Bush, Dustin Huff, Raymond Greene and Steve McCormick.
Burial will be in Logan Cemetery in Garrison.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today and an hour before services Friday at the funeral home.
