Mildred Hoffman
Mildred Hoffman, 88, formerly of Ashland, Ky., widow of George F. Hoffman, died Sunday, Jan. 31, 2010, in St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, Ky.
Born in Paintsville, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Leonard Connor and Nora Daniel DeHart.
Mrs. Hoffman was a 1941 graduate of Ashland High School, retired from Shely Construction Co. and a member of Tates Creek Christian Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Georgianna (Terry) Collins of Goshen, Ky., Jeannie Broughton of Ashland and Betsy (Richard) Kallop of Lexington; six grandchildren, Eric and Robert Collins, Catherine Childers, Maggie Caulk and Bryan and Zachary Kallop; six great-grandchildren; and two brothers, William D. DeHart of Spokane, Wash., and Paul Connor DeHart of Port Charlotte, Fla.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Deloris DeHart Van Hoose.
Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 4 at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, 3421 Harrodsburg Road, Lexington. Burial will be in Blue Grass Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Bryan and Zach Kallop, Eric and Rob Collins, Daniel Lee, Gary Kyle and Ernie Vasiloff.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions are suggested to a charity of choice.
Robert “Bobby” Lawson Jr. (1957-2010)
On Jan. 31, 2010, at 9:30 p.m., while surrounded by family and friends, Robert “Bobby” Lawson Jr., 52, of South Shore, Ky., finished the race he began 52 years ago.
He was born Aug. 6, 1957, in Portsmouth, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Lawson, and a brother, Tim Lawson.
Surviving are his wife, Tamara “Tami” Shekels Lawson; his mother, Marilyn Timberlake Richards of South Shore; two sons, Joshua (Sarah) Lawson of South Shore and T.J. (Erica) Lawson of South Shore; two grandchildren, Joshua II and Penelope Hope Lawson; and a brother, Rick Lawson of South Shore.
He was retired from North American Refractories in South Shore, was a Kentucky colonel and attended Christ Community Church in Portsmouth, Ohio.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010, at Morton Funeral Home in South Shore, with burial in Mount Zion Cemetery in South Shore.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Elizabeth Jane Stacy (2007-2010)
Elizabeth Jane Stacy, 2-year-old daughter of Chris Stacy and Rebecca Christine Endicott of Louisa, Ky., died Jan. 31, 2010, in Three Rivers Medical Center in Louisa.
She was born Dec. 26, 2007, in Lexington, Ky.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by two half brothers, Christopher Stacy and Austin Stacy, both of Logan, W.Va.; a half sister, Kristina Stacy of Stepptown, W.Va.; her maternal grandparent, Kathy Stacy of Louisa; her maternal great-grandmother, Mary Christine Wellman of Louisa; her maternal grandfather, Rick Stacy of Louisa; and her paternal grandfather, Keither Stacy of Wolf Creek, Ky.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2010, at Garden of Hope Church in Louisa by Darrell Ratcliff. Burial will be in Wellman Cemetery in Busseyville, Ky.
Visitation will be after 9 a.m. today at the church.

Pauline Spears Bowling (1915-2010)
Pauline Spears Bowling, 95, of Wheelersburg, Ohio, died Jan. 31, 2010, in Hill View Retirement Center in Portsmouth, Ohio.
She was born Jan. 15, 1915, in Catlettsburg, Ky., a daughter of the late John Wesley and Mary Alice Mitchell Spears.
In addition, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Bowling, in 2006; a brother, Mitchell Spears; and four sisters, Mildred Spears, Dorothy Spurlock, Evelyn Spurlock and Jessie Regens.
She was a telephone operator and a member of Jehovah’s Witnesses, the Pedro Garden Club, the Elizabeth Township Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and the Lawrence Furnace Homemakers.
Surviving are a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Cummins and husband Charles of Wheelersburg; and a brother, John Douglas Spears of Catlettsburg.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2010, at Steen Funeral Home-13th Street Chapel in Ashland by brethren of the Wheelersburg Kingdom Hall.

Wilma J. Ferguson (1933-2010)
Wilma J. Ferguson, 76, of Huntington, widow of Irvin Ferguson, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010, in Emogene Dolin-Jones Hospice House in Huntington after a prolonged illness of pulmonary fibrosis.
She was born on March 17, 1933, in Grayson, Ky., a daughter of the late Everett and Amelia Pope.
She was a member of Walnut Hills Nazarene Church and retired from Bailey’s Cafeteria after 20-plus years of service.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers Roy, Paul, Elwood and Phillip Pope.
She is survived by her daughters, Dianne Hoover and her husband, Harold “Ed,” of Milton, W.Va., and Martha Ferguson of Huntington, W.Va.; grandsons Michael Ferguson of Huntington and Joshua Hoover of Milton; great-granddaughter Katlyn Ferguson of Huntington; brothers Walter Pope of Brookville, Ohio, and Gene Pope of Grayson, Ky.; sisters Kathleen (Richard) Everman of Olive Hill, Ky., Sandra (Clyde) Lewis of Sandy Hook, Ky., and Joy (Jim) Kelley of Versailles, Ky.; and sisters-in-law Glenna Pope of Grayson and Ermal (Fred) Lam of Huntington.
