Ella Jacqueline “Jackie” Smith, 79, of Raceland, died Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2012, at her residence.
She was born March 3, 1933, at Grahn, a daughter of the late Watt and Martha Brown Blevins. She was also preceded in death by her infant son, Beryl Weslay Smith; brothers Chester Blevins, Angus Blevins and Elisha Blevins; and sisters Elizabeth Roark, Inez Johnson and Norma Hamm.
Jackie was a homemaker who greatly enjoyed her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved creative writing and attended the Old Regular Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband, Beryl Smith; two daughters, Martha Jane (Ronald) Adkins of Flatwoods and Lisa Ann (Mike) Triplett of Raceland; two sons, Carroll Alton “Pete” (Karen) Smith and Jeffrey Wayne (Bonnie) Smith, both of Flatwoods; a sister, Eula Oney of Raceland; a brother, Rollie Blevins of Olive Hill; 17 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 24, 2012, at Evans Funeral Home in Raceland by Elder Gary Blevins. Burial will be in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Donations may be sent in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association.
