Mary Willingham (1933-2009)

Mary Willingham, age 76, of Ashland, Ky., died Sept. 18, 2009, at her residence.

She was born June 22, 1933, in Ashland, a daughter of the late William Albert and Ruth Reoma Worley.

She worked for Owens-Illinois.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Alfred L. Willingham; a daughter, Mary Louise Willingham; two brothers, Melvin and Bill Worley and a sister, Margaret Blair.

Surviving are one son, John R. Willingham of Ashland; a brother, Wayne Worley of Ohio and a sister, Ramona Martin of Ashland.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, 2009, at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland by the Rev. Charles E. Stewart. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland.

Friends may call from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.



Clyde Marvin Willis (1935-2009)

Clyde Marvin Willis, 73, of Taneytown, Md., died Monday, Sept. 21, 2009, at his residence.

Born Nov. 27, 1935, in Flatwoods, Ky., he was the husband of 49 years to Lacy Willis of Taneytown. He was the son of the late Elsie Witten and Pearl Eather Willis.

Before retiring, he was a barber at Rhoten’s Barber Shop in Westminster, Md. He was a graduate of Baltimore Barber College and a member of the Door to Virtue Masonic Lodge No. 46 AF&AM; and Littlestown Eagles.

Besides his wife, he is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Bobby Joe and Lisa Stiltner of St. Thomas, Pa.; daughters and sons-in-law, Rita Dexter of Waynesboro, Pa., and Rhonda and Bert Sondericker of Taneytown; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ronald R. and Mae Willis and Rodney D. and Suzette Willis, all of Flatwoods; sisters, Linda L. Hicks of Flatwoods and Regina Willis of Raceland, Ky.; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela Pearl McCoy and brother, Jerry G. Willis.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 7 p.m. tonight at the Fletcher Funeral Home, 254 E. Main St., Westminster, where the Door to Virtue Masonic Lodge No. 46 will conduct a memorial service at 7 p.m.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Richard Shamer officiating. Interment will be in Baust Church Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Door to Virtue Lodge No. 46, 46 Monroe St., Westminster, MD 21157.

Gladys Shepherd (1921-2009)

Gladys Howard Shepherd, 88, of Hippo, wife of the late Ashland Shepherd, died Sunday in St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.

She was born March 3, 1921, in Pyramid.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Hall Funeral Home in Martin. Burial will be in Howard Cemetery in Pyramid.

Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.



Jewell Lewis (1942-2009)

Jewell Cindy Lewis, 66, of Lacy Creek, died Monday in St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.

She was born Sept. 28, 1942, in Wise County, Va.

Her husband, Kenneth Paris Lewis, preceded her in death.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Lacy Creek Church of Christ. Burial will be in Dawson Cemetery in Lacy Creek.

Friends may call from 12:30 to 2 p.m. today at the church.

Potter Funeral Home in West Liberty is in charge of arrangements.

Patricia Burton

Patricia A. Burton, 67, of Prestonsburg, formerly of Carter, died Tuesday in Prestonsburg Care and Rehabilitation Center in Prestonsburg.

Sparks Funeral Home in Grayson is in charge of arrangements, which are pending.



Raymond “Jack” Blair (1933-2009)

Raymond L. “Jack” Blair, 75, of Ashland, died Tuesday at his residence.

He was born Dec. 15, 1933, in Ironton.

His wife, Delores Rose Rowe Blair, survives.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Phillips Funeral Home in Ironton. Burial will be in Sugar Creek Cemetery with military rites by VFW Post 8850.

Friends may call from noon to 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
