Glenna Bower - 1937-2009
Glenna Hardin Crawford Bower, 72, of South Shore, Ky., died Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2009, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky.
She was born July 16, 1937, in Siloam, Ky., a daughter of the late Elder Warren Hardin and Eunice Stephens Hardin.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Don Crawford; a granddaughter, Courtney Margaret Thomas; and a brother-in-law, Bill Riddle.
She was retired from Bank One/Chase in Portsmouth, Ohio, a lifelong member of Siloam Baptist Church and a trustee of the Hardin Addition of Siloam Cemetery. Glenna was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother and a kind friend to all.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry “Skip” Bower; a son, Greg (Lydia) Crawford of Ashland, Ky.; three stepsons, Mike (Kim) Bower, Todd Bower and Terry Bower, all of West Portsmouth, Ohio; a stepdaughter, Kathy (Jim) Pierron of Portsmouth, Ohio; grandchildren Crystal Crawford (Kelby) Steele, Shane Thomas, Leslie Bower (Michael) Keating, Sean Bower, Brett (Jackie) Pierron, Kyle Pierron, Abbie Bower and Tanner Bower; great-grandchildren Casey and Lauren Steele, Josiah Bower and Grace Ann Keating; two sisters, Barbara Hardin Riddle of South Shore, Ky., and Donna Hardin (Jay) Combs of Franklin Furnace, Ohio; three brothers, Gary (Jackie) Hardin of South Shore, Ky., David (Sandy) Hardin of South Shore, Ky., and Keith (Carol) Hardin of Fayettville, N.C.; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 25, 2009, at Morton Funeral Home in South Shore, Ky., with Gary Howell officiating. Burial will be at Siloam Cemetery in South Shore.

Patricia A. Burton - 1942-2009
Patricia A. “Patty” Burton, 67, of Prestonsburg, was called to her heavenly home on Tuesday morning, Sept. 22, 2009, from Prestonsburg Health Care Center.
Patty was born April 12, 1942, in Carter City, Ky. Her father, James Humphreys, preceded her in death.
Ms. Burton is survived by her mother, Virgie McGlone Humphreys of Clio, Mich., and several cousins and extended family who will greatly miss her. In addition, she is survived by all the employees of Prestonsburg Health Care Center, whom the family would like to express sincere appreciation to for taking care of Patty.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009, at Sparks Funeral Home in Grayson by Roger McGlone. Burial will be in Kiser Cemetery.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25, 2009, and after 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Mildred “Maxine” Hamm, 76, of Raceland, died Tuesday in King’s Daughters Medical Center.
She was born Feb. 4, 1933, in Lewis County. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Hamm.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods. Burial will be in LeMaster Cemetery.

Irene C. “Granny” Els-wick of Holly Hill, S.C., died Wednesday in a Charleston, S.C., hospital.
She was born in Sal-yersville. Three husbands, Clarence Gallion, Clyde Gibson and James Elswick, preceded her in death.
