Flo L. Simmons Stanley (1917-2009)

Flo L. Simmons Stanley died Oct. 12, 2009.

She was the youngest of nine children born to Ethel and Charles B. Simmons in Ashland, Ky. She and her husband of 40 years, Wilfred Bill Stanley (deceased), owned and operated Stanley’s Grocery in Coal Grove, Ohio, for many years before settling in Sarasota, Fla., in 1965. Together, they managed the Siesta Sun Apartments in Siesta Key, Fla., prior to retirement.

She is survived by a sister-in-law, Helen Simmons of Ashland; a niece, Linda Green of Madison Heights, Mich.; a nephew, Clyde Simmons and his wife, Angela Mudd, of Lexington, Ky.; her very special friend, Joan Morris of Sarasota; great-nieces and great-nephews; and many loving and devoted friends in the community and her church.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Oct. 14 at Toale Brothers Funeral Home, Gulf Gate Chapel, 6903 S. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Sarasota Memorial Park on South Tamiami Trail.

A memorial service honoring her will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, 2009, at Vamo United Methodist Church, 8521 Vamo Road, Sarasota.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Vamo United Methodist Church.



John Richard “Jack” Henneman (1927-2009)

John Richard “Jack” Henneman, 82, of Ashland, Ky., awoke to a new day in his Savior’s arms on Monday, Oct. 12, 2009, at his residence.

He was born July 22, 1927, in Ashland, a son of the late Clarence J. Henneman and Nellie Belle Sweany Henneman.

In addition, he was preceded in death by a son, John R. Henneman in 1950; and a son-in-law, Donald J. Shemwell.

He was retired after 30 years as plant manager of Ashland Chemical, was a member of Holy Family Church for 82 years and a choir member and graduate of Holy Family School.

Surviving are his wife, Marilyn Manley Henneman of Ashland; a son and daughter-in-law, James A. and Cindy Henneman of Lantana, Fla.; three daughters, Debra Shemwell and Johnda Morris, both of Ashland, and Cheryl A. Henneman of Lexington, Ky.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A Mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 16, 2009, at Holy Family Church by the Rev. John P. Noe. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Visitation will be an hour before services Friday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Holy Family Church, 900 Winchester Ave., Ashland, KY 41101.

Pallbearers will be Stephen Curtis, Tony Curtis, Justin Curtis, Tony Morris, David Morrison, Teresa Morris and Chantel Henneman.

Lazear Funeral Home in Ashland is in charge of arrangements.



Frances Gallaher Bailey (1923-2009)

Frances Gallaher Bailey, 86, of Winchester, Ky., formerly of Ashland, Ky., died Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2009, in Lexington Country Place in Lexington, Ky.

She was born Jan. 10, 1923, in Ashland, the daughter of the late Ted and Josephine Soligic Gallaher.

She was a former employee of Stecklers Clothing Store and a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Myron Dale Bailey; a grandson, Evan Joseph Waters; a sister, Evelyn Troutman; and a brother, William “Willie” Gallaher.

Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Waters and her husband, Frank, of Winchester; a brother, Ted Gallaher of Ashland; and a grandson, Dale Waters of Winchester.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, 2009, at Miller Funeral Home in Ashland by the Rev. B. Dinsmore Nisbet. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.

The family will receive friends after 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Rose Mary Brooks Place, 200 Rose Mary Drive, Winchester, KY 40391.



Juanita Blair (1951-2009)

Juanita Blair, 58, of Ashland, died Monday in King’s Daughters Medical Center.

She was born May 16, 1951, and was the wife of George Blair.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Evans Funeral Home in Raceland. Burial will be in Caroline Cemetery in Raceland.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.



Susan Hahn

Susan Lynn Douglas Hahn, 53, of Ashland, died Monday in Cabell Huntington Hospital.

Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland.

Eugene Keibler (1927-2009)

Eugene Paul Keibler, 82, of South Shore, died Tuesday in South Shore Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born Jan. 31, 1927, in Portsmouth, Ohio.

Surviving is his wife, Loretta Wright Keibler.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at South Shore Church of God. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery in South Shore.

Friends may call after 6 p.m. Thursday and an hour before services Friday at the church.

Wright’s Funeral Home in Greenup is in charge of arrangements.

Lawson Patrick, 51, of Salyersville, died Tuesday.

Normal Lee Montgomery, 74, of Salyersville, died Monday.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Magoffin County Funeral Home in Salyersville.



Lilly Gee (1943-2009)

Lilly Mae Gee, 66, of Madison Heights, Mich., died Monday in William Beaumont Hospital in Troy, Mich.

She was born May 3, 1943, in Cabell County, W.Va.

Her husband, Grover Gee, survives.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Phillips Funeral Home in Ironton. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery.

Friends may call after noon Friday at the funeral home.

Carrie Blevins (1933-2009)

Carrie Blevins, 76, of Waterloo, died Monday in Holzer Senior Care Center.

She was born May 12, 1933, in Greenup County.

Her husband, David Blevins, died in 1978.

The funeral will be at noon Thursday at Phillips Funeral Home in Ironton. Burial will be in Rehobeth Cemetery.
