Jane W. Cordial - 1942-2009
Jane W. Geyer Cordial, 67, of Ashland, wife of James Cordial, died Wednesday afternoon in Community Hospice Care Center following an extended illness.
She was born March 30, 1942, in Ashland, Ky., a daughter of the late Albert and Cora Bullion Geyer.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are a son, James Cordial and wife Kathy of Ashland; three brothers, Lewis Geyer, Herman Geyer and Walter Geyer of Ashland; three sisters, Minnie Rice, Margaret Kelley and Goldie Capps of Ashland; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Preston Family Funeral Home in Ashland by Brother Jimmy Rice. Burial will be in Kirby Flats Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Marjorie Johnson - 1930-2009
Marjorie Johnson, 79, of Catlettsburg, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday evening, Nov. 10, 2009, in King’s Daughters Medical Center.
Marjorie was born April 6, 1930, in Halifax County, N.C., a daughter of the late Robert Fort and Myra Wood Alston.
She was previously employed by the Carolina Phone Co. as an operator, had been a community hostess for the Welcome Wagon and was a faithful member of Oakland Avenue Baptist Church in Catlettsburg, Ky.
Marjorie was the loving wife of Bobby Gene Johnson, who preceded her in death. Their union was blessed by a loving family, including a son, Richard Alston Johnson of Oak Hill, Ohio; two daughters, Myra Lynn Withrow of Catlettsburg and Vanessa Arthur of Athens, Ohio; sisters Ethel Glascow of Halifax, N.C., Leatha Glascow of Enfield, N.C., Dorothy Davidson of Halifax, and Nancy Melton of Creswell, N.C.; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were a son, Stephen Ernest Johnson, and a brother, Robert Boyce Alston.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov.14 at Oakland Avenue Baptist Church. Pastor Mike Blankenship will deliver a message of comfort. Final rest will be in Catlettsburg Cemetery.
Friends may call on the Johnson family from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Kilgore & Collier Funeral Home on Panola Street in Catlettsburg and an hour before services Saturday at the church.
Ralph E. “Gene” Sansom - 1943-2009
Ralph E. “Gene” Sansom, 66, of Flatwoods, Ky., died Nov. 10, 2009, in Cabell Huntington Hospital.
He was born Aug. 15, 1943, in Charleston, W.Va., a son of the late Cephas Ray and Hazel Marie Baldwin Sansom.
He was a retired meat cutter with Kroger. He was a member of UFCW Local 400, American Legion Post 325 of Flatwoods and the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Ashland. He was a bowler in Tri-State Leagues and an avid bluegrass fan.
Surviving are sons Michael Eugene Sansom and Benjamin Scott Sansom, both of Flatwoods; a daughter, Teresa Sansom (Roger Douglas) Brown of Mason, Ohio; brothers Wetzel Sansom and Basil Sansom, both of Charleston, W.Va.; sisters Lorraine Chamers and Virginia Jones, both of Charleston; and six grandsons, Andrew Douglas Brown, Derek Matthew Brown, Ethan Samuel Brown, Tucker Gordon Brown, Travis Michael Sansom and Hunter Dylan Sansom.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14 at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods. Burial will be in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods.

Hattie Leydeon Dickerson - 1915-2009
Hattie Leydeon Dickerson, 94, of Grayson, Ky., went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2009, in King’s Daughters Medical Center.
She was born Oct. 27, 1915, in Carter County, Ky., the daughter of the late Claude and Hattie Bayes Waggoner.
She was a homemaker and a member of Hitchins Wesleyan Church, formerly known as Pilgrim Holiness Church, where she served as missionary chairwoman for four years, missionary treasurer for 18 years, deaconess for two years and Sunday school secretary for 431/2 years.
She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Frances and Harriet Mullins; two sisters, Mae Rice and Lurene Caudill; and four brothers, Kenneth, Raymond, Everett and Leslie Waggoner.
She is survived by a daughter, Linda and husband Don Sparks of Ashland, Ky.; a son, Stanley and wife,Ruth Dickerson of Grayson; a brother, Milton Otis Waggoner of Ashland; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009, at Malone Funeral Home in Grayson by George T. Smith and Dennis Romans, ministers. Burial will be in Waggoner Family Cemetery.
