Jack A. Williams Sr.

Jack A. Williams Sr., 73, of Columbus, formerly of Ashland, Ky., went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009, from Kobacker House in Columbus.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009, at Salem Baptist Church, 5862 Sinclair Road, Columbus, OH 43229, with Pastor Terry Jesse officiating. Burial will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Cemetery in Catlettsburg, Ky. at a later date.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Rutherford-Corbin Funeral Home, 515 High St., Worthington, OH 43085.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Salem Baptist Church.

Ford Perry Kouns (1912-2009)

Ford Perry Kouns, 97, of Hitchins, died Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009, in Hagerhill, Ky.

He was born Sept. 17, 1912, in Carter County, Ky., to the late James Perry Kouns and Nora Rice Kouns. He was a retired construction worker, a World War II Army veteran and a member of Hitchins Gospel Mission Church and the VFW.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Blanche Houck Kouns; six brothers, Hobart, Clayton, Harlen, Coy, Lawrence and Gaylord Kouns; and four sisters, Beulah Hunicutt, Belva Kouns, Elsie Stidham and Lela Easterling.

He is survived by three daughters, Jewell (Charles) Holbrook of Pinehurst, N.C., Marilyn Hazlett of Kenova, W.Va., and Deborah (Dan) Crum of Hagerhill, Ky.; a brother, Charles Kouns of Reedville; six grandchildren, Eric (Ruthie) Holbrook, Perri (Ronald) Jackson, Thomas Hazlett, Julie (Christopher) Bell, Angela Broughton and Nikki (J.R.) Music; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009, at Sparks Funeral Home in Grayson by John Sergent. Burial will be in East Carter County Memory Gardens.

Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. today, Nov. 16, 2009, at the funeral home.

Johnny Burton Blevins (1952-2009)

Johnny Burton Blevins, 57, of Grayson, died Saturday morning in an automobile accident on I-64 in Rowan County.

He was born May 13, 1952, in Beetle, Ky., to the late William Curtis and Bertha Marie Carroll Blevins.

He was a general superintendent for Capitol Tunneling, a member of Laborers Local 1445 in Catlettsburg for 39 years and of the Baptist Faith. Johnny was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He is survived by his wife, Audrey Lewis Blevins; three daughters, Kendra (Tommy) Murphy, Trish (Richard) Mullins and Teena (Larry) Porter; two sisters, Zethel Gentry and Juanita Ferguson; four brothers, Clifford Blevins, Curtis Blevins, Larry (Tom) Blevins and James (Erin) Blevins; eight grandchildren, Peyton, Hayden, Madison and Sydney Murphy, Haley and Katlyn Mullins and Dollee and Tamara Porter; a special mother-in-law, Augusta Lewis; many nieces and nephews; and a special uncle and aunt, Bert and Lillian Blevins.

He was preceded in death by two special nephews, Brian Blevins and Devin Campbell; his father and mother, William Curtis and Bertha Carroll Blevins; three sisters, Ethel Knipp, Cloral Henry and Linda Cummings; and three brothers, Wayne, Jesse and Oral Ray Blevins.

There will be a joint visitation and funeral with his nephew, Devin Campbell, at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18 at Malone Funeral Home in Grayson with Danny Kelley and Ed Jones. Burial will be in the family cemetery on Smith Branch.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and until services Wednesday at the funeral home.



Devin Wayne Campbell (1988-2009)

Devin Wayne Campbell, 21, of Lexington, Ky., died Saturday morning in an auto accident on I-64 in Rowan County.

He was born Jan. 30, 1988, to Kevin and Trina Campbell. He was a student at Penn Foster Vocational School.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his grandparents, Augusta Lewis, Lorraine Campbell and Lewis and Betty Claxon; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by grandfathers Emerson Lewis and Gary Campbell.

Pallbearers will be Bill Oney, Don Campbell, Blake Campbell, Chuckie Lewis, Scott Miller and Chad Jones. Honorary pallbearers will be Darren Campbell and Greg Campbell.

There will be a joint visitation and funeral with his uncle, Johnny Blevins, at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18 at Malone Funeral Home in Grayson with Tony Daniels and Danny Kelley. Burial will be in the family cemetery on Smith Branch.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and until the services Wednesday at the funeral home.



Lana W. Wilson (1954-2009)

Lana W. Wilson went to be with the Lord, with her family by her side, on Friday, Nov. 13, 2009, from King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky., following a sudden illness.

Lana was born April 10, 1954, in Ironton, Ohio, to the late W.E. and Mildred H. Wimmer Jr.

Lana was the owner-operator of Cozy Crafts and Flowers in Worthington, Ky., where she put her talent and love in beautiful arrangements, pleasing the eye of every beholder. She was an active member of the church she treasured, Worthington Church of the Nazarene.

Surviving are her husband of 36 years, Randy N. Wilson of South Point, Ohio, her loving son and daughter, Matthew Joseph (Stacie) Wilson of Georgetown, Ky., and Melissa Dawn (Brian) Shaffer of Russell, Ky.; the apples of her eye, grandchildren Alora Grace Wilson, Addison Mae Wilson and Aidan Joseph Shaffer and a granddaughter she was anxious to meet in January, Eastyn Alana Shaffer; and a stepgranddaughter, Taylor Nicole Shaffer.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, Charles “Bubby” Wimmer.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009, at Worthington Church of the Nazarene with Delmar Hewlett officiating. Burial will be in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods.

The family will welcome visitors from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009, at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods.



Rodney Baker

Rodney Baker, 53, of Olive Hill, died Sunday in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.

Funeral arrangements are pending at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill.



Aline Bentley

Aline Bentley, 88, of South Point, Ohio, formerly of Olive Hill, died Sunday in King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.

Funeral arrangements are pending at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill.



Clara Goodman (1935-2009)

Clara O. Eldridge Goodman, 73, of Morehead, died of Saturday in St. Mary’s Hospital in Huntington, W.Va.

She was born Dec. 27, 1935, in Rowan County.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home in Morehead. Burial will be in Crix Cemetery.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at the funeral home, where there will be an Old Regular Baptist Church service at 6:30 p.m.



Oleda Sallie (1949-2009)

Oleda May Crase Sallie, 60, of Campton, died Friday in the University of Kentucky Medical Center.

She was born July 11, 1949. Her husband, Forest Sallie, preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Brush Fork Baptist Church in Caney. Burial will be in Dunn Cemetery in Lee City.

Friends may call after 6 p.m. today at the church.

Jannett Curtis

Jannett Sue Curtis, 63, of Staffordsville, died Saturday.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Paintsville Funeral Home. Burial will be in Johnson County Memorial Cemetery in Staffordsville.

Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.



James Daniel Caskey

James Daniel Caskey, 31, of West Liberty, died Friday at his residence.

His wife, Amber Gillespie Caskey, survives.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Herald & Stewart & Halsey Funeral Home in West Liberty. Burial will be in Caskey Cemetery on Ky. 7 in West Liberty.

Dean Robert Merritt (1918-2009)

Dean Robert Merritt, 91, of Emma, died Sunday in Highlands Regional Medical Center in Prestonsburg.

He was born April 14, 1918, at Emma.

His wife, Wilma Agnes Leslie Merritt, preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Martha’s Catholic Church in Prestonsburg. Burial will be in Richmond Cemetery in Prestonsburg.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at Hall Funeral Home and after 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.



Miriam Yvonne Taylor (1936-2009)

Miriam Yvonne Taylor, 73, of South Point, died Wednesday in the Heartland of Riverview nursing facility in South Point.

She was born Feb. 26, 1936, in Ironton.

Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Highland Memorial Gardens.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at Tracy Brammer Funeral Home in Ironton.
