Mary A. Wellman - 1921-2009
Mary A. Wellman, 88, of Ashland, now rests in the presence of our Lord after passing Tuesday, Nov. 24, at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland. She was born May 10, 1921, in Ironton, Ohio, a daughter of the late John and Louvicie Adkins Russell. She was a retired LPN with King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland and Elmwood Village, and a member of First Baptist Church of Ashland. She loved watching birds and gardening.
She leaves behind a son, Charles “Chuck” (Margaret) Kitchen of Ashland; a daughter, Sue Branham of Ashland; five grandchildren, who were the light of her life, Kristen Wonn (Tobin) of Ashland, Aaron Kitchen (Missy) of Ashland, Sean Kitchen of Ashland, Terry Hillard (Steve) of Portland, Ore., and Pam Trogdon (Paul) of Catlettsburg; six great-grandchildren, Ryan, Emily, Josh, Matt, Emma and Maggie; and a special niece, Arlene Damron and her husband, Ernie of Huntington.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, John William Kitchen; second husband, Edgar Wellman and 12 brothers and sisters.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Neal Funeral Home on Center Street in Catlettsburg by Pastor Roger Wireman. Burial will be in Ashland Cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon and until the service time at the funeral home.

Irene Robinette - 1920-2009
Irene Martin Robinette, 89, of Ashland died Monday, Nov. 23, 2009, following a brief illness. She was born Oct. 11, 1920, in Ashland, the daughter of the late Virgil L. and Myrtle Evans Martin.
She also was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Howard David Robinette; a son, John David Robinette; two brothers, Harry Robert Martin and Walter Vernon Martin; and a sister, Lois Brumfield.
Survivors include a son, Gary R. (Lynne) Thompson of Nashville, Tenn.; two daughters, Carolyn R. (Bill) Terrell of South Point, Ohio, and Barb R. (Mark) McWhorter of Ottumwa, Iowa; a daughter-in-law, Sheila Robinette of Lexington; two sisters, Betty Shimfessel and Mary Lou Mackebee; a brother, William E. “Bill” Martin of Ashland; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and 11 nieces and nephews.
A homemaker, Mrs. Robinette was a devoted and loving wife and mother. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed still life and landscape painting in oils and playing the piano. When she sat at her piano, her most requested song was “Sweet Georgia Brown,” and she played it well. Since early childhood, she was a member of Beech Street Christian Church where she formerly was a member of the adult choir, church pianist and member of the Progressive Sunday school class, and the ladies fellowship. She also volunteered as a docent at the Kentucky Highlands Museum.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Miller Funeral Home in Ashland with Kenneth Vaughn officiating. Burial will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Barbara A. Gullett - 1954-2009
Barbara A. Gullett, 55, of Ashland died Wednesday at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland. She was born March 9, 1954, in Corunna, Mich., the daughter of the late John Curreli and Barbara Cottonham. She was the wife of Charles W. “Bo” Gullett, who survives. She was a homemaker and attended Fairview Holiness Church.
She also was preceded in death by two sisters, Diane Curreli and Jody Curreli.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include one son, Dylan Gullett at home; one daughter, Casey Gullett at home; one brother, Joe Curreli of Michigan; five sisters, Mary Johnson and Tammy Shultz, both of St. Louis, Mo., Jonell Curreli of Boyd County, Betsy Bennetts of Michigan and Debbie Curreli of Boyd County; brother-in-law, Roy D. Gullet of Ashland; a sister-in-law, Vickie Gullett of Ashland; and a special friend, Susan Seasor.
Funeral is at noon Friday at Lazear Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Profitt officiating. Burial will be in Ashland Cemetery. Visitation is one hour before the service at the funeral home on Friday.

Robert M. Corey Sr. - 1932-2009
Robert M. Corey, Sr., 77, of Catlettsburg, died Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2009, at his home following an extended illness. He was born Sept. 15, 1932, in Ashland, a son of the late Matthew and Minnie Collins Corey. Robert was retired from the Laborer’s Local 1445 Catlettsburg and enjoyed his retirement days searching for yard sale treasures. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Lily Prater Corey, in 2004; two sons, Robert Jr. and Teddy Corey; a brother and two sisters.
Survivors include, a daughter, Patricia and husband John Stapleton of Catlettsburg; two sons, Jeff Corey and wife Lauren of Troutman, N.C., and Rick Corey of Cannonsburg; three brothers, Paul and Terry Corey of Ashland and David Corey of Wheelersburg, Ohio; two sisters, Verna Davis and Drema Hensley of Ashland; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Gaythel Dickison - 1913-2009
Gaythel Cox Dickison, 95, of Flatwoods passed away Sunday, Nov. 22, 2009. She was born in Carter County on Dec. 20, 1913, the daughter of the late Charles Cecil Cox and Milton and Sophie Sammons Cox Roe. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of Clifty United Baptist Church for over 60 years and a lifetime member of Mistletoe Chapter 144 of Russell, Order of the Eastern Star. She most enjoyed serving the Lord and spending time with her family.
She also was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Dickison, whom she married Jan. 18, 1936; sisters, Clara Cox Counts and Stella Roe Chandler; and brothers, Roy Roe, Oather Roe, Ray Roe and James Roe.
Survivors include her daughter, Judy (Mrs. Bob) Arthur of Wurtland; grandson, James Milton Arthur of Flatwoods; sister, Sue Roe Dickison and brother, Carl (Ann) Roe, both of Flatwoods; and brothers-in-law, Henry Counts and James Hamilton; and sisters-in-law, Gincy Dickison, Nell Dickison Wilburn and Lucille Roe.
A special thanks is extended to her niece, Beth Fitzgerald and faithful friends, Doris Williamson, Louise Picklesimer and Sharon Henry.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Westwood United Baptist Church, with Elders J.D.Riggs, A.J. Williamson and Homer Bowling officiating. Burial will be in Counts Cemetery in Greenup County.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods and one hour before the service at Westwood United Baptist Church. Eastern Star services will be at 7 p.m.
Mike Caudill - 1947-2009
Billy Michael “Mike” Caudill, 62, of Flatwoods passed from life as he knew to his eternal heavenly home to rest with our Lord and Savior. He was born June 3, 1947, in Paintsville, the son of Ada Blanton Caudill of Ashland and the late John W. Caudill. He has fought a brief devastating battle with cancer, was saved and baptized in February 1972 at the First Christian Church in Russell. He had been attending the Raceland Christian Church.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Margie Parsons Caudill, where they had been married for 30 years; son, James Michael Caudill (Tammy); a daughter, Amanda Caudill; stepson, Doug Deborde (Kelly); our precious grandson, Alex Deborde; a brother, Neil Caudill (Shirley) of Winchester; Karen Caudill of Flatwoods, Cathy Reed (Bill) of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; and a special aunt, Mayme Chapman.
He worked at CSX the past 28 years, was an active member of the Brotherhood of Engineers and was an avid UK fan. He served his country for two years with the U.S. Army in Germany.
Mike was a wonderful, giving, caring son, husband, father and a friend to many. He also enjoyed the affection of his canine buddies, Sadie, Bella and Ollie. He will be forever missed by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Raceland Christian Church with Pastor James Matthew officiating. Burial will be in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the church.

Danny Campbell - 1944-2009
Duane “Danny” David Campbell of Hitchins passed away Wednesday at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland. He was born Jan. 16, 1944 in Hitchins, a son of the late Woodrow and June Carroll Campbell. He was retired from Laborers Local 1145 in Catlettsburg, was an avid CB’er (who was known as Fishhook) and was of the Protestant faith. His survivors include his wife, Mary Pennington Campbell of Hitchins; one daughter, Jennifer (and husband Ova) Sexton of Hitchins; one son, Jason Campbell of Hitchins; two sisters, Joy Kennedy of Hitchins and Deborah Carper of Carter City; five brothers, Gene Campbell of Hitchins, Glen Campbell of Hitchins, Darrell Campbell of Denton, Paul Campbell of Salt Lick, W.Va., and Terry Campbell of Hitchins; four grandchildren, Haley Sexton, Chelsey Sexton, David Sexton and Austin Campbell; and a special friend, Wilbur Baugess.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Malone Funeral Home in Grayson, with Kyle Burchett and Roger Nolty officiating. Burial will be in the East Carter County Memory Gardens.
