Mary Rebecca Roy (1911-2009)
Mary Rebecca Roy, 98, of Ashland, Ky., died Monday, Dec. 21, 2009, at her residence.
She was born Jan. 10, 1911, in Hopewell, Ky., the daughter of the late Asa and Lulu Hannah Bellew. She was a homemaker and a member of Second Freewill Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Wayne Clark; her second husband, Leonard Roy; a son, Jim Roy; a daughter, Ruth Ann Clark; a grandson, David Roy; three brothers, Clyde Bellew, John Bellew and Butler Bellew; and a half brother, Billy Bellew.
She is survived by two daughters, Joyce Dennis and Loretta Thacker, both of Ashland; a son, Don Roy and his wife, Beth, of Michigan; nine grandchildren, Becki Schutt, Jerry Thacker, Michelle Wilson, Tommy Roberts, Jeff Roy, Joe Roy, Denise Cooper, Jessica Dockham and Jeremiah Roy; 20 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 24, 2009, at Miller Funeral Home in Ashland by Pastor Randy Skaggs. Burial will be in Zoar Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Orville D. Riley Jr. (1925-2009)
Orville D. “O.D.” Riley Jr. of Oakmont Manor in Flatwoods went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2009.
O.D., the son of Orville Riley Sr. and Eva May Ruggles Riley, was born in Coal Grove, Ohio, on Aug. 29, 1925.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Maxie Riley, in May 2008 and a sister, Thelma Meadows.
He is survived by his son, Clarence Ray Riley and his wife, Darlene, of Ashland; grandchildren Michael Riley and his wife, Evelyn, of Ironton, Christopher Riley and his wife, Karen, of Ashland, Matthew Riley and his wife, Sabrina, of Williamsburg, Va., Brian Bass-Riley and his wife, Lori, of Fairhaven, N.J., and Kimberly Sansom of Ashland; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was educated in the Ashland Independent School District and had several jobs in Ashland before going to work at Sears, where after 32 years of faithful service and many promotions, he retired in Gahanna, Ohio, just outside of Columbus. He then served as business director of the State Convention of Baptists in Ohio from 1991 to 1994 in Columbus. In 1998, he and Maxie moved back to Kentucky and settled in Morehead to enjoy his favorite things — his family, golf and fishing. He was of the Baptist faith, witnessed to countless people and was very active in the churches as Sunday school teacher and director, outreach director and trustee and chaired many committees as a member in Ashland, Lexington, Columbus, Ohio, and Clearfield Baptist Church in Morehead, where his membership remains.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 24, 2009, at Steen Funeral Home-13th Street Chapel in Ashland by the Rev. Pete Miller, the Rev. Jim Nichols and the Rev. H.G. Pratt. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today, Dec. 23, 2009.

Billie Jean Osenton Mullins (1926-2009)
Billie Jean Osenton Mullins, 83, of Olive Hill, Ky., passed away, Tuesday morning, Dec. 22, 2009, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky.
Mrs. Mullins was born Oct. 14, 1926, in Carter County, Ky., a daughter of the late Henry and Norma Jordan Osenton.
Billie Jean was a homemaker and a member of First Christian Church in Olive Hill.
In addition to her parents, Billie Jean was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Mark Daniel Mullins; a brother, Frank Leroy Osenton; and two sisters, Lillian Osenton and her twin sister, Betty Jo Durham.
She is survived by three daughters and sons in-law, Judy Roe and husband Herman, Connie Downey and husband John, both of Ashland, and Cathy Long and husband Charles of Olive Hill; four grandchildren, Erica Pillion, Kara Beth Hicks, Joe Burgess and Mark Miller; and five great- grandchildren, Madison Pillion, Jordan Miller, Andrew Burgess, Michael Burgess and Grace Burgess.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 24, 2009, at Oney-Henderson Funeral Home in Olive Hill with Brother David Gee officiating. Burial will be in Olive Hill Memory Gardens in Olive Hill.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Herman Roe, John Downey, Charles Long, Joe Burgess, Mark Miller, Jon Miracle and Jordan Miller will serve as pallbearers.
