Daniel Clifford Carroll - 1924-2010
Daniel Clifford Carroll, 85, of Grayson, died Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010, in Carter Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born Dec. 17, 1924, in Grayson, to the late Ernest Clifford and Mabel Branhen Carroll. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca Fannin Carroll.
He was a self employed contractor, former mayor of Grayson and a World War II U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Grayson and Grayson Trimble Lodge 145, F&AM.; He was a 50-year member of El Hasa Shrine and Covington Scottish Rite of Indra Consistory and a life member of DAV Chapter 147. He was a Kentucky colonel.
Survivors include three sisters, Jewell Collins of Grayson, Dorothy McGuire of Belleview, Fla., and Bettie Roberts of Ashland; two brothers, Ernest T. Carroll and George L. Carroll, both of Grayson; special caregivers Don and Goldie Wallace; and a special niece, Karen Burton.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Grayson by Paul Schmidt. Burial will be in East Carter County Memory Gardens, with graveside rites by East Carter High School Jr. ROTC.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Malone Funeral Home in Grayson and after 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Grayson Trimble Lodge 145 will perform Masonic rites at 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Janet K. Bond, 93, of Ashland, died Saturday in Woodland Oaks Health Care Facility in Ashland.
She was born Jan. 31, 1916, in Ansonville, Pa. She was the wife of Milford Bond.

She was born March 17, 1927, in Scioto County, Ohio. Her husband, Troy Lee Stapleton, preceded her in death.
