Doris Ann Duffy (1946-2010)
Doris Ann Duffy, 63, passed away on Friday, Jan. 1, 2010.
She was born in Kentucky on April 2, 1946, to Douglas and Mildred Van Hoose and spent her youth in Circleville, Ohio, and was a graduate of Circleville High School. She then returned to Kentucky where she married and raised her family and spent several years working and eventually owning her own business.
Doris then met her current husband, Michael, and the two moved to the Columbus area in 1998. Doris was athletic and enjoyed tennis and golf and she and Michael loved sailing and scuba diving throughout the Caribbean. She also loved to play bridge, a game she was able to enjoy almost daily. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren, teaching them to play golf and cook. She was known to them as Granny D and she loved to take them swimming and to visit the zoo.
Doris was always pleasant and even through her illness, she never stopped smiling. She will be missed by her family for her helpful advice and comforting presence.
She was preceded in death by her father, Douglas Van Hoose, and a brother, Keith Van Hoose.
She is survived by her husband of 17 years, Michael Duffy; her mother, Mildred Van Hoose; children Sherri Damron and Ryan Roberson; stepchildren Shanna Carver, Ryan Duffy and Derek Duffy; seven grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.
