Harold Eugene “Bebob” Ratliff Sr. 1926-2012

GREENUP — Harold Eugene “Bebob” Ratliff Sr., 86, of Flatwoods, passed away Monday, June 25, 2012, in King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.

The Ironton, Ohio, native was born March 3, 1926, the son of the late Frank Amos and Louise Pasley Ratliff. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jean Rose Hall Ratliff, whom he married Aug. 28, 1948.

Mr. Ratliff was a graduate of Russell High School and a U.S. Navy World War II veteran. He was a former pipefitter/sheet metal worker for Allied Chemical in South Point and the C&O Railroad in Russell. He was a member of Faith United Church of the Nazarene in Ironton. He was a Nazarene Work and Witness coordinator, a former president for the Ironton Band Boosters, a former Boy Scouts of America troop leader and served in various positions in the Nazarene church, including assistant pastor, music director, Sunday school superintendent, board member, Faith Promise speaker and treasurer. He received the Distinguished Service Award from the Church of the Nazarene. He enjoyed fishing, coin collecting and photography.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Lucille Ratliff Lamlin, Helen Ratliff Sparks and Marie Ann Ratliff Sparks; and three brothers, Frank Ratliff Jr., Walter Ratliff and Richard “Dick” Ratliff.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons and daughters-in-law Harold E. “Bebob” Ratliff Jr. and Patty of Swanton, Ohio, and Frank E. Ratliff and Edie of Jacksonville, Fla.; a daughter and son-in-law, Veronica Ann “Ronne” Nunley and Charles of Flatwoods; two sisters, Eileen Jarusiewic of Kettering, Ohio, and Juanita Kirchner of Dayton, Ohio; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 28, 2012, at First Church of the Nazarene in Ironton by the Rev. Harold E. Ratliff Jr. and the Rev. Dirk Johnson. A private burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Ironton, with military graveside rites by VFW Post 8850.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the church.

Phillips Funeral Home in Ironton is in charge of arrangements.
