RUSSELL —
Mildred Elizabeth Rayburn-Lyons, 92, of Russell, passed away peacefully on Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, and now is in the presence of her Lord and Savior.
She was born in Barboursville, W.Va., on Aug. 14, 1920, to the late Henry Bailey and Belle Elizabeth Smith-Rayburn.
Mrs. Lyons was a member of the Mead Memorial United Methodist Church in Russell, where she belonged to the Lady’s Circle Club. Mildred was a homemaker, loving mother, caring grandmother and great-grandmother, but previously worked at Sylvania Electronics, where she assembled Vacuum Tubes.
Besides her mother and father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Lyons; three brothers, Everett Rayburn, Howard Rayburn and Edward Rayburn; one half sister, Ruth Smith; and one granddaughter, Stacey Redmon.
Family and friends left behind to mourn her passing include one daughter, Diana Ellis-Parker and her husband, James R., of Russell; one son, David Bruce Ellis and his wife, Charlotte, of Flatwoods; four grandchildren, Kevin and Kyle Ellis of Flatwoods, Sheri Arrington and her husband, Mike, of Bellefonte, and Billy Parker of Aruba; five great-grandchildren; one grandson-in-law, Tim Redmon of Winchester; a very dear friend, Gladys Koury of Ashland; as well as several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013, at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods. Burial will follow at Ridgelawn Memorial Park in Huntington.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Mildred’s memory to, Mountain Missions, c/o Mead Memorial United Methodist Church, 443 Boyd Street, Russell, KY 41169.
