ASHLAND —
Joseph “Joe” Clarence Crews, age 81, of Ashland, husband of Belva Jean Halbert Crews, died Friday, Aug. 31, 2012, in the Markey Cancer Center (University of Kentucky) in Lexington.
He was born June 27, 1931, in Advance, N.C., a son of the late James Ephriam and Auttie Burnette Crews. Joe was retired from the U.S. Marine Corps, American Car and Foundry, the Veterans Hospital in Huntington, W.Va., and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Rufus Burnette.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Leneda Jo Crews (Craig Robert) Laing of Athens, Tenn.; one sister, Minnie Rose Crews Lawson of Polk City, Fla.; and one special grandson, Westin Joseph Laing.
Funeral service for Joseph “Joe” Clarence Crews will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012, at Hall Funeral Home in Martin, with Elders of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints officiating. Burial will follow in the Halbert Family Cemetery in Printer, with the funeral home caring for those arrangements.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
