LOUISA —
Willie E. Blevins, 82, husband of Pauline Leibee Blevins of Louisa, passed away Friday, March 8, 2013, in King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.
Willie was born Oct. 2, 1930, in Westwood to the late Albert and Ethel Porter Blevins.
He was a retired Roller in the Hot Strip Mill at Armco Steel. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was of the United Baptist Faith. He was a member and past master of Greenhill Lodge 521 F&AM, member and past deputy patron of Order of Eastern Star Greenhill Chapter 567, member of Indra Consistory Valley of Covington Scottish Rite Bodies, El Hasa Shrine, former awards chairman and retired board member of Eastern Kentucky Leadership Board, founding board member and past chairman of Armco Credit Union, past chairman of Lawrence County Democratic Party, field representative for Congressman Chris Perkins, member of Yatesville Lake development and planning committee and liason and union negotiating board member for Steelworkers Local 1865.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Alvin Blevins and Willis Blevins; and one sister, Mabel Thompson.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Pauline Leibee Blevins of Louisa; four daughters, Patricia (Michael) Sullivan of Louisa, Tina (Mark) Jackson of Louisa, Teresa Burke of Martinsburg, W.Va. and Elizabeth (Mark) Cain of Summerville, S.C.; two brothers, Elwood Blevins and Charles Blevins, both of Westwood; four sisters, Joyce (Ronald) Johnson of Westwood, Betty (John Benny) Grossl of Westwood, Cora (Jerry) Hall of South Point, Ohio, and Debbie (Roger) Esque of Raceland; six grandchildren, Kelly Hardin, Jessica Zeitz, Kaylyn Williams, Sarah Cain, Joshua Cain and Nathaniel Cain; five great-grandchildren, Emma Hardin, Keira Hardin, Walter Zeitz, Preston Williams and Gretchen Williams; and a host of extended family and friends.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at Caniff Funeral Home in Westwood by Elder Clarence Thompson Jr. Burial will follow in Dixon Cemetery in Westwood with military services by Kenova American Legion Post 93.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Eastern Star services will be at 6:30 p.m. today by officers and members of Greenhill OES 567 and Masonic services will be at 7 p.m. by officers and members of Greenhill Lodge 521 F&AM.
