Lawrence McNabb - 1926-2010
Lawrence McNabb, 83, of Westwood, Ky., died Saturday morning, Jan. 16, 2010, in Community Hospice Care Center following an extended illness.
He was born Sept. 22, 1926, in Copper Hill, Tenn,. to the late Herbert Clyde and Azza Wilma Hatchet McNabb. His wife, Betty Wilson McNabb, survives.
He was retired from Carpenters Local 472 of Ashland and was a former civil engineer with the Tennessee Valley Authority and the U.S. Corps of Engineers. He was a World War II veteran and a member of Bellview Community Methodist Church in North Carolina. He faithfully attended Fairview Baptist Church, was a member of Poage Lodge 325, F&AM;, was past president of the Westwood Lions Club and was a Kentucky colonel.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, Mitch McNabb, and wife Kathy of Westwood; a daughter, Sallie Murphy and husband Terry of Ashland; three granddaughters, Amanda Marie McNabb and fiancé Jessie, Lindsay Leigh Armstrong and Allison Michelle McNabb; and two great-grandchildren, Alaina Marie Parton and Elijah Cash Armstrong.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010, at Fairview Baptist Church by Pastor Michael Rice. Arrangements are by Preston Family Funeral Home.

Clyde Miles - 1925-2010
Clyde Miles, 84, of Ashland, died Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010, in Oakmont Manor Nursing Home.
He was born Dec. 20, 1925, in Boyd County, to the late David and Sarah Crabtree Miles. His wife, Pansy Lambert Miles, preceded him in death.
He was a Navy veteran and a self-employed bricklayer. He attended Ironville Enterprise Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Raymond Miles; four sisters, Susie Daniels, Julia Hale, Mae Caudill and Bessie Busby; and four brothers, Eugene Miles, Tom Miles, Carl Miles and Paul Miles.
He is survived by two sons, Clyde A. Miles of Ashland and Jason “J.D.” Miles and wife Karen of Lawrence County, Ky.; two sisters, Virginia Huddleston and Polly Bell, both of Columbus, Ohio; four grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010, at Lazear Funeral Home in Ashland by Pastor Jack Salyers. Interment will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010, at the funeral home.

Loreada G. Stephens Pelfrey, 89, of Olive Hill, died Saturday in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.
She was born July 1, 1920, in Carter County. Her husband, Warren G. Pelfrey, preceded her in death.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Oney-Henderson Funeral Home in Olive Hill. Burial will be in Jr. OUAM Cemetery in Olive Hill.

Jackie L. Hall Sr., 66, of Kitts Hill, died Saturday in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.
He was born Feb. 10, 1943, in Huntington, W.Va. His wife, Cheryle Thomton Hall, survives.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Oakland Chapel United Brethren Church. Burial will be in Oakland Chapel Cemetery.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Phillips Funeral Home in Ironton and an hour before services Wednesay at the church.
