GREENUP —
Charlotte “Mom” Messer Ferguson, 78, of East Main St., Greenup, went to be with the Lord Monday, Oct. 22, 2012, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.
Mrs. Ferguson was born July 25, 1934, in Hike, a daughter of the late Chris and Stella Mayo Messer.
Charlotte was valedictorian of the 1952 graduating class of Greenup Independent High School.
She was a member of the City of Greenup Neighborhood Watch Program.
She was well known for the fudge she made, was an avid reader and loved murder mysteries. She loved to watch Kentucky Wildcat basketball. Most of all, she loved sitting, talking and laughing with her great neighbors and carport friends. She nicknamed them the “Carport Gang.” She will be greatly missed and loved every day by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, James Ferguson; one brother, Russell Messer and one sister, Arlene Messer.
She is survived by three daughters, Kathy (Ray) Williams, Tammy Ferguson and Amy (Josh Wallin) Ferguson, all of Greenup; one son, Mike (Susan) Ferguson of Russell; five grandchildren, Steve (Angie), Sara (Tom), Sydney, Sheena (Jenssen) and Josh; two stepgrandchildren, Kathryn and Adam; six great-grandchildren, Sierra, Caitlyn, Colton, Leah, Mia and Ella; and three step-great-grandchildren, Peyton, Caleb and Vivian.
There will be a memorial service at a later date. Reed Funeral Home in Greenup is in charge of arrangements.
