Jo Ann Counts Mullins 1939-2012

ASHLAND — Jo Ann Counts Mullins, 73, of Summit, died Monday afternoon at her home following a sudden illness.

Jo Ann was born May 30, 1939, in Carter City, a daughter of the late Louis and Dell Hignite Counts.

She was a retired unit secretary at King’s Daughters Medical Center and a member of Kilgore United Methodist Church.  

She was married 53 years to Ercel Mullins, and spending time with her family was most important to her. She loved her little pet family as well, Sweetie, Smokey and Pretty Cat.  Jo Ann was also preceded in death by two brothers, Don and Merle Counts.  

In addition to her loving husband, she is survived by two sons, Jeffery Mullins of Ashland and Kevin Mullins and wife Sherry of Louisa; three daughters, Robin Davis of Summit, Pam Robbins and husband Dave of Ashland and Lynn Porter of Catlettsburg; two brothers, Tom Counts of Ashland and Ray Counts of Tennessee; 12 grandchildren, Jason and wife Dessa Davis, Melody Hammonds, Cameron, Christian and Carly Mullins, Tyler and Jessica Mullins, Jessica Meddings, Jenae VanHoose, Hayley Robbins and Heath and Aaron Porter; and five great-grandchildren, Lakin and Gavin Porter, Kaylynn and Kyle Meddings and Jenna VanHoose.  

Funeral services for Jo Ann will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012, at Preston Family Funeral Home in Ashland by Pastor Fred Wiles. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland.  

Visitation will be after 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
