CATLETTSBURG —
William C. Mills, 85, of Catlettsburg, passed away Oct. 25, 2012, in Edgewood Manor in Lucasville, Ohio.
He was born March 4, 1927, in McAlpin, W.Va., to the late Jessie James and Nanny Salisbury Mills. He was cared for and raised by William and Emily Mae Mills from the age of 6 weeks.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Michael Mills, and a daughter, Brenda Joann Mills, and sisters Willie Emery, Frances Bendette, Sadie Peterson and Georgia Lilly.
William worked for the R.H. Bouligny Co. for 43 years. He was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran and served in World War II. He was a member of the American Legion, the NRA and IBEW Local 317. He was a Kentucky colonel.
He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley R. Farley Mills of Catlettsburg; a brother, Lonnie Mills of Stewart, Fla.; grandchildren Jeremy Mills, Douglas Brian Mills and Amanda Joann Cloonan; and great-grandchildren Jeremy Dale Cloonan, Douglas Ethan Mills, Taylor Nicole Cloonan, Madelynn Marie Mills and Alyssa Jane Mills.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 28, 2012, at Blue Ridge Funeral Home in Beckley, W.Va.
Visitation will be after noon Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
Visitation in Ashland will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012, at Steen Funeral Home-13th Street Chapel.
