Avaline Foster 1924-2012

WURTLAND — Avaline Clay Foster, 88, of Wurtland passed away Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012.

Avaline was born July 23, 1924, in Carter County, to the late Delbert and Grace Hampton Clay.  

She had previously worked as a sales clerk for AB Shoe Store and was a member of Central Free Will Baptist Church of Huntington, W.Va.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Foster; two brothers, Alvis Clay and Delbert Clay Jr.; and two sisters, Pauline Shawhan and Naomi Gillispie.

Survivors include a son, Charles Prichard Jr. of Olive Hill; two sisters, Beulah Williams of Tappahannock, Va., and Louise Gentry of Wurtland; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. today, Oct. 26, 2012, at Woodmere Memorial Park in Huntington by Pastor Rick Mays.

Caniff Funeral Home in Westwood is in charge of arrangements.
