James Simpson 1924-2012

FRANKLIN FURNACE — James H. Simpson, 87, of Franklin Furnace, Ohio, formerly of Greenup, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, in Woodland Oaks Health Care Facility in Ashland.

Jim was born Dec. 31, 1924, in Green County, Ky., a son of the late Thomas Howard and Bertha Edwards Simpson.

He was a retired superintendent for Tennessee Gas, a 60-year member of Pitman Lodge 124, F&AM, in Campbellsville and Electa Chapter 3, Order of the Eastern Star in Greenup.

He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Ruby Smith Simpson, and a daughter, Sharla G. Coffee.  

He is survived by his wife, Barbara “Belva” Young VanBibber Simpson; a daughter, Rhonda Kay Simpson of Ashland; a brother, Howard Simpson Jr. and his wife, Margie, of Glasgow; a sister, Joyce Smith and her husband, Herman, of Greensburg; and 14 nieces and nephews, Terry Ann Wells, Charles Barrett Simpson, James Douglas Smith, Michael Allen Smith, Abby Lauren Heltsley, Benjamin Daniel Wells, Jetona Kaye Milby, Justin Smith, Ashley Smith, Ruby Heltsley, Baker Heltsley, Jacob Simpson, Anna Kate Simpson and Madelyn Simpson.

Funeral services will be at noon Friday, Oct. 12, 2012, at Wright’s Funeral Home in Greenup by Brother Jack Edwards. Burial will be in Brick Union Cemetery at Lloyd.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today and an hour before services Friday at the funeral home. Greenup Lodge 89, F&AM, will have Masonic services at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
