FLATWOODS —
John R. Gilpin Jr., 83, of Trinity Station, Flatwoods, formerly of Ashland, died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.
He was born March 30, 1929, in Covington, the son of the late John R. Sr. and Helen Virginia Aylor Gilpin.
He was the former owner of Economy Printers and a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Helen Thompson Gilpin.
Survivors include a daughter, Judith (John) Carlbom of Bainbridge Island, Wash.; two sons, Joel R. (Rose) Gilpin of Vancouver, Wash., and Jeré (Susan) Gilpin of South Point, Ohio; two sisters, Rhoda (Jack) Smith of Lexington and Ruth (Jerry) Amos of Houston, Texas; three grandchildren, Jenelle (Daniel) Snyder, R.J. Mangaron and David Carlbom; and a great-grandchild, T.J.
Funeral services will be at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, at Miller Funeral Home in Ashland by Pastor John Rule and Pastor Jeff Black.
The family will receive friends after 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
