Tom Mullins 1934-2010

CATLETTSBURG — The Rev. Thomas Clayton Mullins, 76, of Lexington, Ky., a former resident of Catlettsburg, went to meet his Heavenly Father on Wednesday morning Sept. 1, 2010, in Veterans Administration Medical Center in Lexington.

Mr. Mullins was born April 2, 1934, in Cromona, Ky., a son of the late William and Lelia Presnell Mullins. Tom was also preceded in death in 2004 by his beloved wife of 45 years, Mary Waddell Mullins.

The Rev. Mullins was ordained as bishop in the Church of God in 1958. He pastored for more than 40 years, including 15 years as pastor at Catlettsburg Church of God. Tom was a former member of the State Council of Kentucky Church of God and a strong organizer and supporter at Church of God youth camps and on youth boards. His hobbies include hunting and fishing. He was a member of Old Paris Road Church of God in Lexington.

Left behind are Tom’s three sons, David Mullins and wife Kathy of Irvine, Calif., Tom Mullins and wife Cathy of Owensboro, Ky., and Bob Mullins of Lexington; two brothers, Paul Mullins and Roy Mullins; four sisters, Ann Campbell, Mary Godfelf, Buna Rose and Lelia Childers; and eight grandchildren.

Funeral services to celebrate Thomas C. Mullins’ life will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, 2010, at Catlettsburg Church of God, 105 36th St., Catlettsburg. Pastor Jack Whittaker will bring a message of inspiration to those in attendance and Pastor Danny Overton will eulogize. Final rest will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today and an hour before services Saturday at the church.

Kilgore & Collier Funeral Home on Panola Street in Catlettsburg is in charge of arrangements.
